Possible fault within the memory to the processor as the TIMER settings does not register. Erase all the settings if there were set earlier and then swtich off power on the set for few hours. Now switch on and set the TIMER, make sure there is no power interuptions , fault in the PLUG point or a power supply related issue. If so the fault is within and might need some professional help to remove , check and rectify.

My microphone is not recording

I don't think you have the microphone set as a recording device in the Audio Sound properties. Click Start/Control Panel and check to make sure the microphone is set as a recording device.
You can also get there by clicking on the megaphone at the bottom right near the time. If the microphone is not checked as a recording device, you can talk till you turn blue and it will never record.

My video cassette recorder will only record in black and white now.

If the electronics haven't crapped out, it's likely dirty. It takes considerably more signal to have color than B&W. Cleaning the heads should help. If you don't know how, let me know and I'll walk you through it.

Alternately, a few of the VHS and 8mm units had a black and white mode setting in the menus. Recording B&W movies in color mode caused some oddball effects, from time to time, so they offered a B&W mode. It was a short lived option because people didn't want to bother with it, and it occasionally got enabled accidentally, leading to complaints and visits to service centers.

My recorder isnt working

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time of day you are viewing this solution. Thank you for choosing FixYa to solve your problem. The recording feature of your electronic device isn't working properly? You should try turning the volume up on the microphone so it can pick up your voice clearer when talking. If you still can't playback any recordings, check the volume settings of your device on your computer. This is located in the Control Panel (Windows) and the System Preferences (MAC OS) applications of your computer. Go into your operating system's preferences and increase the microphone volume. You may also need to select your headset device as the default recording device (Windows) or the Output Device for recording (MAC OS). If you want my opinion, I think your headset device is not set as the default recording device. If you don't have a headset as the default recording device or output recording device, you can turn the volume up to the maximum setting and you still won't be able to record anything because the computer has another device (if any microphones are installed in the PC) as its default or output recording device. That's why it's important to check your system preferences for a headset to make sure it has the proper settings. I hope you understand this solution and that you can record audio on your headset. Reply back if you need step-by-step instructions.

I HAVE A PANASONIC DVD,VHS RECORDER MODEL #DMR-EZ48V.WHEN TRANSFER A VHS CASSETTE TO A DVD THE THUMNAILS ON THE DVD HAVE THE DATE OF 1/1/2000. HOW CAN I PUT THE ACTUAL DATE OF THE RECORDINGS ON EACH OF THE...

Try setting the clock on the remote press [FUNCTIONS] go to SETUP menu - locate the CLOCK option (it should be under 'OTHERS' in the setup) and set the current time, press [ENTER/OK] to store if necessary, then press [RETURN] to exit the setup. Once clock is set correctly, future DVD thumbnails will show the actual date/time of recording in this (and similar) model combo units. If auto clock setting is not possible, set it manually as above.

I assume in spite of the wrong date/time, your DVD recordings have been successful. Incorrect clock and date setting usually only affects timer recording for VHS.

If you have lost or misplaced your original owner's manual, you can download a free pdf version (for Region 1 model) from:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/DVD-Recorders-Players/DVD-Recorders/model.DMR-EZ48VK

or, if you live outside USA, download the 'Australia/NZ' pdf version of the manual (for Region 4 model) from:

http://www.panasonic.com.au/Products/DVD+and+Blu-ray/DVD+-+Players+and+Recorders/DMR-EZ48V/Downloads

either one of these will provide you a full copy of the original user guide/setup including clock.

All free. Hope these suggestions help.

How do you reset clock on your DVD Recorder DMR-ES15. Can't find booklet that came with recorder.

You can either copy and paste the following link into your browser, for quick-view, and/or save the .pdf document (instructions for Panasonic DMR-ES15 DVD recorder):

http://videolinq.tafe.net/attached_docs/pdf/equipment/Panasonic_DMR-ES15_User_Manual.pdf

(verified and complete to give you a basic operation manual for FREE download)

or you can try to set the clock manually, do this:

press [FUNCTIONS] on the remote while unit is on, to bring up the setup menu, scroll to 'OTHERS' look for 'CLOCK' or 'CLOCK SET' option, highlight it, click it, set the clock. Press [ENTER/OK] to access the date hour minute, etc., then press the relevant remote arrow buttons to select correct time/date, then press [ENTER/OK] to store the current setting. Then press [RETURN] to exit the setup. Clock is now set (this model does not offer automatic clock adjustment for daylight saving).

If the above suggestion does not work, download the pdf and save it for accurate reference. Either may help you.

Recording Error, Can not record on this disc, E 4 54040990 Just trying to record from TV on a Memorex DVD+RW. Keep getting this error. Any ideas?

Recently started getting the same error message. I thought it was because I was getting to close to full or something that was trying to over fill the discs. Have tried EP and LP and this just started when I had a disc set to record to the end. I can't even open that one or finalize it. The rest do the same. They are working fine and when the error comes up, ZAP the disc is dead, no access.

I also tried putting the same disc into another Magnavox DVD recorder, still no access. These are both the most reliable recorders I've ever owned and I've had a number.

magnavox error message dvd "e 6 2a031000 can not record on this disc."

I suspect at this point, a batch of cheap Nexxtech DVDs. Also it's possible that it's a heat problem with the recorder? Once the disc goes into error mode, it's unreadable and all recordings that haven't been written to the TOC become invisible, but that time is forever lost on the DVD.

DVD is visibly (looking at recording surface) FULL but the supposed record time isn't used up. Data error. Discs reporting wrong size. Try a different brand of DVD.

Unable to record any BBC channels on tvonics dvr

I had this problem and did 'Menu' then 'Settings' and 'Reset set top box'. This will lose your channels and timers, but the recorded programs will still be there. After I did this I could record again on BBC!
