the bar in the ice maker stays in the upright position which signals to the ice maker that the bucket is full when in fact it is not....all directions/ manuals state....do not force the bar to go down....so now what?...my model is kenmore elite bottom freezer / refrigerator #795

Well, that wire is likely the cause of your issue, somebody probably bent it, and now it gets caught on the door or a basket or a food item or what have you, and since it cannot move, the ice maker will not make ice.

Kenmore elite french door freezer on bottom

Odds are due to the fact the ice maker was left on for an extended time with a full tray of ice the mechanisms froze. You can take a hand held hair dryer and defrost the parts, just be careful not to get too over zealous and melt the plastic parts. It should only take a few minutes to defrost.

To avoid this problem from occurring again, I turn the ice maker off when the ice tray is full.
