Laptop has been turning off by itself more frequently and the battery is over heating.

Do you know when the fan and heatsink was last cleaned for dust?
It could also be the fan that is faulty. Does the laptop turn off frequently and get hot?
Unfortunately, as for disabling or turning the fan off, it will make your laptop stop functioning as all laptops and some other electronics need to vent the heat produced by itself. Hope this helps.

First thing you have to do is heat management. for that, place the laptop base in an even surface and never on a bed or cloth as this will stop the air intake throgh the bottom fan and cause it to stop or restart frequently when heat exceeds. secondly the fan vent may be blocked with accumulated dust thus the hot air is spreading in and leads the system to overheat and shutdown or restart frequently. A motherboard failure also shows this symptom. Consult a laptop technician incase you recognize the 2nd and 3rd problem.Hope this helps

If you are using the ac adapter and your laptop still turns off frequently, you're probably having a problem with "overheating".

If you notice that the unit gets hot, or the vents are not blowing out air as normal before it turns off, surely you need to either clean the fan or replace it.

Accumulated dust in the fan will affect its performance which can cause overheating. Though the unit will not get too hot, the laptop will turn itself off to protect itself from further damage. Use a canned air to blow out dust from the fan.

If this will not work, I suggest to take the laptop to a repair shop for further diagnostic.

Try this: Remove the battery and AC power, press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds and then put both back in and start it

laptops/notebooks tend to overheat more quickly the desktop resulting in shut down, try a laptop/notebook cooling fan

Please check for the exhaust,is it coming properly and check the bottom of the Notebook is it heating ?
If heating then this is the issue with the processor fan.
If the temprature is normal then check in BIOS(leave the system in BIOS mode for 8 minutes) if then also it is turning off surely this is the heating issue.
If above mentioned is not working please revert.

Initially, I would suspect the battery (even when plug to the AC). To confirm, pls try running without the battery and purely on AC adapter. Alternately, it could be a loose component internally such as the memory, LAN or WiFi card and in some models, video card. In my Toshiba, it turned out that the WiFi was consuming too much power that it discharges the battery rapidly and the charger was having a hard time coping up. My solution was to turnoff the built-in WiFi and install a D-Link USB.

Is it turning off by itself after being on for 20min... each time? I.e. is it consistently turning itself off after the same amount of run time? Check the bottom of the laptop... how hot is it? Might be an over-heating problem. Some freeware (MobileMeter) might help you monitor temperatures and see if it is a problem

mine was turning itself off with no warning quiet frequently.

unscrewed the panels on the underside so i could get to the fan, pulled the dust balls out, and it's been right as rain ever since.

was really easy to pull apart and put back together and i didn't even have to expose any circuit boards,so i figr it's a pretty safe bet too.

ob just make sure it's not plugged in and the battery's out.
