Just bought a dehumidifier in the ground level of a high ranch I am very frustrated because I dump the water every day I waas told to keep the humidity at 45- 50 but it keeps on going up This seems to be a...

It isn't necessary you run it 24 hours a day. You can set it to be on for 2 or 4 hour intervals and then it Turns OFF. However, I am a bit concerned that you have the humidity extraction level set a bit high for a basement application. 50% is more than most basements need to be. Lowering it to 35%, will remove more humidity and eventually will run for shorter periods of time. It takes several days of operation for the dehumidifier to get the humidity under control.

If you have a floor drain in your basement, you can use a hose to daring the water, rather than having to empty the bucket daily (which is not that unusual). See your Owner's Manual on how to connect a 48" length of garden hose to the dehumidifier.

I hope this helped you & thanks for choosing FixYa.

Compressor stops at proper humidity % but the fan keeps running.

Dehumidifiers are built that way. They keep moving air so it is able to keep any change of conditions moving around the room. On a dehumidifier, it the fan stops, your unit will short cycle becasue water will naturally evaporate from the water tank and it would turn on, then off, then on then off. The way it runs now is fine. Running the fan 24 hours on your dehumidifier cost nickels a day. Just let run.

If you are in a very humid room or area it will not shut of until it reaches desired humidity% level that is set. If it is reaching the set level and not turning off I would return it.

Does not produce water

Hi,
Is there any sign of ice or condensation on the cold pipes? You may be able to see them by removing the filter screen (if present on your model) from behind the inlet grille. There's also a chance that the humidity sensor is clogged with fluff, so fooling the system into thinking the room is pretty dry. A running compressor can usually be detected as a deep throbbing from the machine.
If it is running, but not cooling the pipes, then you may have lost the refrigerant from the system via a leak. If the air coming out of the machine is warm (caused by the compressor running) but there is no water produced this is usually the cause. This is usually beyond the scope of a DIY repair.

Hope this helps. If these suggestions do help you solve the problem, please give my reply a rating to help others judge my knowledge / guessing skills.
If they do not, please hold off on the rating and add a comment with more details so I can try to help you further. Cheers, D
