I have a Danby which

Lori, the Danby Humidifier, Model # DDR2504 does not have a heating function. It's just a 25 pint dehumidifier. In fact, there are no Danby Dehumidifiers that have a heating function.

By, chance do you have Multifunction Air Conditioning unit, rather than a dehumidifier? If so, please provide the correct model number.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Here's a link to your Owner's Manual. Just click on the link and follow the instructions for the Free manual. You can download and print the manual for future reference. Take good care of it, as your model has been discontinued.

The Room Humidity Light is

Janice, there are 5 basic, yet solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

1. The humidity extraction level is set to HIGH. Lower it to 32-35%.

2. Air intake filter is dirty or clogged. Turn unit OFF, & Unplug the
Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

4. Cooling coils are dirty and need to be cleaned. Use warm water & dish washing liquid to
clean the coils. Rinse and wipe dry. Apply a light coating of WD40 to the coils.

5. Ambient air temperature at floor level is between 40 - 60 degrees.
dehumidifiers do not work well between those temperatures
(Unless, you have a Low Temp Unit). This applies mainly to
where the air temperature at floor level is colder than at shoulder
level
in basement applications . Raising the unit up off the floor,
onto a sturdy table, counter top, etc, that can handle the weight
of the unit, plus a full tank of water, will usually resolve this
problem.

If none of the above solves the problem, it may be a case of the compressor needs to be recharged with refrigerant gas or that the humidity condenser sensor has failed. These things usually occur in units that are 5 years old or older. It's rare in a unit younger than that. But, it can happen.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Power light flashing on danby

As I tell most folks who complain about the problem you're having

There are 5 basic, but solvable reason for what you described. Please pay particular attention to numbers 1 & 2.

Unit, before removing to inspect & clean it, if necessary. If washed,
allow filter to completely dry before reinstalling. DO NOT operate
the unit without the filter. To remove the filter on your model it will either have a pullout tab on
the right side of the unit, behind the louvers on the front. Or remove the bucket and the filter
frame will be just on the inside top of the opening behind the front louvers.

3. Obstructed air flow. Maintain a minimum of 12 to 18" of clear air
space around the entire unit.

DDR2504 dehumidifier has always worked

derkfarm - It may simply be a case of the humidity extraction level being set to high and/or the air intake filter needs to be removed and cleaned.

Solution: Lower the humidity extraction level to 32 - 35% and clean the air filter.

If the unit is in a basement, the ambient air temperature at floor level is colder than at chest level. Dehumidifiers don't work well at temperatures between 40 - 60 degrees F.

Solution: Set the unit up off the floor on a sturdy table, cabinet, counter top, etc. It must be sturdy enough to handle the weight of the unit, plus a full tank of water and the vibration, while in operation.

Any or all the simple solutions above may solve the problem. But, we won't know, until you try them.

Please let me know if it helped or didn't solve the problem. Thanks.

Compressor stops at proper humidity

Dehumidifiers are built that way. They keep moving air so it is able to keep any change of conditions moving around the room. On a dehumidifier, it the fan stops, your unit will short cycle becasue water will naturally evaporate from the water tank and it would turn on, then off, then on then off. The way it runs now is fine. Running the fan 24 hours on your dehumidifier cost nickels a day. Just let run.
