Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.
If your vacuum doesn't turn on, make sure that plug is fully inserted into a fully functional electronic outlet. If it still not turning on after verifying this, it could be that the power switch is malfuntioning. You may need to replace the power switch by opening up the handle of your vacuum. I suggest to refer to your manual on how to replace the power cord or contact Dyson for troubleshooting steps. 1-844-679-1647

SOURCE: Dyson DC07 Vaccum - brush will not turn
Hi.
Your Dyson has A clutch unit this engages the brush roller when you pull the handle back to vacuum.
Check the clutch control knob which is at the bottom left side of machine looking from the front.
It should rotate to drive position when handle is pulled back.
If it doesnt turn the knob by hand to drive & try the machine.
If you still have no brush rotation after doing all this then UNPLUG machine from mains supply.
Now lay machine on its side & remove the sole plate, This is the cover over the brush roller.
Turn the 3 plastic screws to unlock postition & lift sole plate off.
Now try to yurn brush roller using your hand. It should turn freely if it is difficult to turn look for any foriegn object obstructing the roller.
If no obstruction found then remove the brush roller from the machine & check the bearings in the ends of the brush roller one or both may be siezed up if they are then new brush roller will solve the problem.
If bearings are good then either the clutch is faulty or the second belt which goes clutch to motor has snapped & will need replacing.
It is difficult to fully explain the clutch removing procedure,
But there are service manuals available for these repairs at this site

Yes I had the same problem on my animal Dysom. There is a button on the top of the dysom that turns the cacuum on. Right beside that button is another one that turns on and off the brush!!! Good luck!!! I accidently one day bumped that button and couldn't get my brush to work but after troubleshooting it, that was my solution.

Hi
If your Dyson has a brush protection design - i.e. roller bar on the top of the hood on the left hand side then the DYson can't be repaired by you- serviceman or professional care can replace it.
However if the Dyson doesn't have the roller bar on top of the hood, flip the machine over so that the beater brush is facing upwards, locate three/four screw heads that can be undone with a coin and remove the sole plate assembly. This should give you a clean view of the brush bar, drive belt and dirt channel. Ensure everything is clean espcially if the brush bar has lots of hair or threads tightly corded around. Then locate the drive belt and check to see if it has snapped. Grasp the beater bar gently upwards and the belt and brush can then be removed. Fit a new belt on carefully and check the tension as it will be tight.

Apparent common failure is that either the thin yellow and or blue motor drive wires that run from the LH side of the vacuum where the "control board" is located down into the hinge / ball area become stretched and then fray and eventually break. Happened to my Dyson twice. First repaired under warranty, second took about 20 minutes. You need a Torx screwdriver to remove the LH panel ( 4 screws) and also an access panel (2 screws) at the side of the ball which permits access to the blue / yellow wire connectors. I replaced with a new wire and connectors having fed the wires through the access hole making sure sure enough wire was available for the movement of the handle. Also ensure that when the covers are replaced they do not trap any wires underneath.

The cog belt is probably not aligned with the motor gear. Watch this video and follow its instructions closely.
