Green ON light permanently on and won't turn off. Screen blank no functions working
Dear!
It would be easy or very bad. First you can check your memory card pins bent in receptance unit. It is hard to see. You should use flash light with magnifying glass. It not the problem then mostly like some loosen screw running around and shorting the circuitry. One of these is very common problem of a certain canon product. It is an engineer defect design. It should be factory recall problem but no they don't recall the problem. Both problem solving need some delicate skill. They need both disassemble! Hope you luck! A Professional Camera Clinic Guy!
What is error 99
What wide angle lens is it need f number it may be to old to work on eos 400d
Wont recognise flash card, error message ,anyone any ideas
If it is just one Flash card, then the card may have failed. If however you have tried other Flash cards and you get the same problem then one of the contacts (small gold coloured pins inside the camera that mate with the Flash Card) may have bent causing the error.
Flash always pops up
Take it off green rectangle and set it on P. Then the flash will only pop up if you push the flash button
Playback button
Check your battery level, if not, there might be a loose cable inside your camera, or a faulty button. Might need to open it.
Safely remove hardware unknown error!
Unplug the camera if it's connected, then shut down and restart your computer. In the future you might want to consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as
Picasa.

Does a sigma 70-300 lens work on a canon 400d
Sigma makes lenses with a variety of mounts to fit a variety of cameras. A lens with a Pentax mount, for example, will not fit a Canon camera. Assuming you get a lens with a Canon mount then yes, it will work on your Canon.
Error 99
Welcome to Fixya
Err 99 could mean several different things, such as... Memory Card, Lens or Lens contacts....
Here's what you can try:
Remove the memory card an enable "shooting with out memory card" and see if you still get the error. If it works your memory card is bad. Try another lens if you can. Clean the lens contacts with a pencil eraser (be careful not to get eraser dust in the camera body or in the lens). Worst case scenario is, Err 99 could be related to the shutter failing which would mean a trip to Canon.
