Can not see subject through the lcd screen

Um, no. EOS Rebel is a "single lens reflex" camera. The display on the back does not show live image. Use the viewfinder above it. After you take a picture, the picture will show on the screen for a few seconds.

A small chip of plastic broke off of my SD card inside the card slot of my XSi camara. We cant get it out, & fell deeper in the slot (out of site) when we tried turning it upside down to shake it

A plastic piece is not an issue in an electronic device. As long as the piece is not part of the SD card holder slot.

So I have an EOS Rebel Xsi, and it has been working perfectly for the last couple of months. I turned it on and tried to take a picture in MF, but then a yellow light on the front starts flashing and

Sounds like the self timer was accidently set.

Description

Using the Self-timer on the EOS REBEL T3i.

Solution

The self-timer is useful when you want to photograph yourself or prevent camera shake caused when the shutter is released. 1. Set the power switch to <ON>. 2. Press < > button. 3. Press <Cross Keys> to select the desired self-timer, then press the <SET> button. : 10-sec. self-timer (The remote control can also be used.) : 2-sec. self-timer : 10-sec. self-timer plus continuous shots. After selecting , press <Cross Keys> to set the number of multiple shots (2 to 10) to be taken with the self-timer.) 4. Look through the viewfinder, focus the subject, then press the shutter button completely.
  • You can check the self-timer operation with the self-timer lamp, beeper, and countdown display (in seconds) on the LCD monitor.
  • Two seconds before the picture is taken, the self-timer lamp will stay on and the beeper will sound faster.
Attention: With [ ], the interval between the multiple shots may be prolonged depending on the shooting functions settings such as the image-recording quality or flash. NOTE:
  • After taking self-timer shots, you should check the image for proper focus and exposure.
  • If you will not look through the viewfinder when you press the shutter button, attach the eyepiece cover. If stray light enters the viewfinder when the picture is taken, it may throw off the exposure.
  • When using the self-timer to photograph only yourself, use focus lock on an object at about the same distance as where you will stand.
  • To cancel the self-timer after it starts, press the < > button.

I am unable to take a long (bulb) exposure at night. ISO set to 1600, F 5.6 (as fast as my lens gets) The Camera tries to focus but the shutter will not open

Set the focus to manual and then infinity. If you have the camera on auto focus at night there is not enough light contrast for the camera focus system to lock onto.

When tKing a picture...should my subject appear in the view screen window...the big screen? Or do you have to look in tiny scdeen to see subject when taking a picture?

Use the largest screen to get a better idea of the focus. Smaller screens lack the resolution to show a slightly unfocused shot - but it will be noticeable later when printed or viewed on a large screen. Of course, these screens eat battery life - so you can use your optical viewfinder whenever possible.

How do i sent my canon e0s card write protect to unlock

Look at the memory card. SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Hi, I can not tranfer

Emily,

We need to rule some things out. Do the USB cables you're trying to use work on other "known to be good" devices? Do not reuse any cable(s) that doesn't work, even if new. Once you have a cable that has been proven to work, try connecting the camera to the USB port on the computer again. Make sure the camera power is OFF while connecting to the computer. Only after connecting should you turn camera power ON again. You can review the whole process starting on page 147 of the manual.

If it doesn't work, it is possible that the ports you're trying to use is either 1) defective or 2) overloaded. Try connecting to a different USB port on one of the computers. If you don't have another USB port, or if it still doesn't work as expected, remove all the devices connected to the USB ports that are not needed to operate the computer. This will lower the amount of power the computer needs to supply to USB devices (some - but not all - computers will flash a message on the screen if there's too many devices connected). Reconnect the powered off camera and try again after turning back on..

If you're still having a problem, suspicion turns to the camera's USB port. Resolving a problem within the camera will likely be the most expensive fix. It took considerable restraint, but I didn't even mention the other solution ;-)

I hope this helps & good luck! Please rate my reply - thanks.
