Start by checking the PC's RAM.You can access them by:-

• Turn it off and disconnect from power.
  

• Flipp over the notebook.

• Open screws most likely situated at the coners.
• Once open locate them.They're bars[bar] held in slots[slot].
  

• You can remove and fix them[it] again making sure they[it] properly fit into their[its]slots.

• Remove the PC's CMOS battery[round 3v and shinny] and the hard disk[slides out when you open the back or held by one or two screws]and re-fix them again.
• Close the machine and power it on.

Your hard disk has a damaged area. Apparently this is close to the end of the storage area. Since there are no software in that area, you will have no problem. (Because the OS not trying to access any files in the damaged area).
Try not to fill the hard disk more than 80%. If files are written in the damaged area, you will experience problems with your laptop.

This error message is a common issue, but requires some hand on the Operating System to get rid of. I'll suggest you to read this article and follow the instructions to restore NTLDR, but you may experience this as something out of the scope. The other way round is to reinstall your Windows.

Since an external monitor works, it is the display's backlight or inverter board.

If you were experiencing discoloration in the screen (pinkish lower light hues) before it failed, that would indicate a CCFL backlight issue. If the screen suddenly went dim rather than a slow degradation, the inverter would be indicated.

In either case, a technician in your area should be able to help. Evaluate to see if the repair is cost-effective.

You need to install Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio first:

HP states that this file is compatible with XP, and should install a driver for Conexant High Definiton Audio, however it is not specifically designed for your HP:

If the above it's not working, then try this driver for HP Compaq Presario C700T, but...
Drivers are available for Windows Vista only. You can try this file to see if works, though.

You most likely have a faulty motherboard.

If you have a Windows password reset disk, you can easily reset forgotten Windows password with it. If not, you can follow the steps to create one. You just need an available computer which can link to the Internet.

Step 1: Download and install Windows Password Breaker with the available computer.

Step 2: Run the program and burn a Windows password reset bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive.

Step 3: Reset your forgotten Windows password with the created disk or USB.

The ONLY reason those ports would overheat is because you are trying to connect too many USB devices to them. If you are using a USB expander then you need to use it WITH the external power supply it came with, OR, be sure the batteries are good if it is battery powered.
You also might have a bad wire or printer etc...but thats not very likely!

it seems like over loading from your charger. try to use another one. same problem. check your memory ram inside.

What does the PC exactly sayd about the HD.

Will it boot up?

Try using safe mode by hitting F8 while booting up.

If the hard drive is failing the most important thing right now is recovering your files.

You can do this with an external hard drive if able to boot into O.S. or a JUMP drive.

While you recover your data, consider buying a replacement hard drive. It doesnt have to be HP Compaq brand. It can be any other brand. Get a PC technician or do it yourself.

If you are able to boot into command prompt use Scandisk command.

Type Scandisk /? for options
