Press the sound setup button multiple times until fader is shown press the play/enter button and use the rotary dial to adjust it's that easy

just hold the num buttons down for a few seconds and they will set to that num.

You have to press and hole the mute button on the lower left side whle the clock is displayed for about 5 seconds then it will blink. Use the 1 and 2 buttons to adjust the hour/minutes and the mute button when done..

By re-reading the complete User's Manual (which I downloaded for free). The directions on how to set AUX + SETUP to OFF were contained in this manual. I had been looking at the Quick Reference Guide (not the complete Manual) which came with the receiver.

Add Alpine's optional "Full Speed" connection cable and you'll be able to use the CDE-9872 to control your iPod. -Crutchfields website

This is compatible with first and second generation iPods touch.
fyi- if you have a mini-stereo aux in jack on the deck you can connect a ipod touch compatible mini stereo cable to the earphone jack of your ipod.

heat is a sign of transitors shorted. you can try to disconect each speaker to see if you have a short. also make shure u dont have low ohms. like multiple speakers to one chanel.
