No audio from docking station

Hi there,
you should try plugging from the output port of the laptop to the input port of the docking station, remember the source is coming from your laptop going to the docking station.
Now for the microphone once you have the settings right the line in jack should work properly.
Hope this helps!

USB problems

Try this, Right Click on MY Computer and choose Properties on Context menu, When the properties windows open choose the HARDWARE tab, then click on Device Manager, You should see the yellow question mark on USB connection. Right click on it, and choose UNINSTALL, answer yes to confirm.
Now Click on My Computer in device manager scheme, then go to right top of device manager, As it mention as SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES click on it. Your windows should detect the new hardware. Then if possible, install it as recommended by windows. If it doesn't work, insert your windows CD and direct the driver to your windows CD.

I need a users guide for ToshibaL40 lap top

Did you try the Toshiba site? You will need to know the exact model name and number of your laptop to get the correct manual. Yours should be a Satellite, but the L40 may have additional sub-model numbers:

My toshiba tecra m10 won't boot when on the docking station

Hello scottgrumish - when you have the computer off the docking station, start it up, and hit F2 or F11, whichever it says to enter Setup. Enter password if any. Once in setup, you'll see a File Menu. For each Menu, push F9 (or, at bottom of screen, look for command list, and locate the command key for setting Default Settings. Starting with the first Tab on the File Menu, hit the F9 key (or the Default key indicated at the bottom) move to the next tab in the file menu...do this for each, until you reach the last. The last tab (Exit) will give you the options: Exit Without Saving Changes, Save and Exit. You want to Save and Exit. The system will then reboot from the beginning, and open windows. Run Disc Defragment which can be found from the Start Menu, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disc Defragment. When the Defragmenter Program open, it will prompt you for which Drive(s) to Defragment. Choose Drive C:\ (Hard Drive). Analyze the drive first to ensure whether it needs degragmented or not. This is just to check. Upon completion of the Analysis, regardless of the result, click the Defragment button. This may take several minutes to a couple of hours, but it is a necessary maintenance operation that should (is recommended) be completed regulary. (Scheduled Degragmentations are best). Once the defragment is complete, again restart the computer. It may seem a bit minotonous, but restarting refreshing the system. Make sure the Trash bin is empty, after the computer has reboot agian. If you know of any programs that are installed, that are not necessary for the computer, you, or any other programs to run or operate, uninstall any of these as they are merely taking space and use up CPU usage; yes even if they're closed and not being used, they take up memory and space. Consider this a type of "Spring Cleaning". If you have an anti-virus program run it as well. To uninstall the programs (if any), go to Start Menu, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disc Cleanup and use this to get rid of such programs (unused). Also, go to the Start Menu, and on the right hand side (or whereever it's located on your computer) go to Control Panel and locate 'un-install a program) Look through the list and un-install any un-necessary programs that you see in the list that you know are not needed or used. If your are not sure, leave it. NOTE: Anything that says Microsoft, Windows, (or anything that contains your computer name or brand, do not un-install). Never, uninstall any file or program with the extensions .dll, .exe, or .bat (agian, if you're not sure, leave it).

Once you have completed this (if there were any), again, restart the computer to refresh the system (it may suggest this automatically).

Now, shut down the computer, dock it, then try to open windows again. If it still does not load up windows (or your OS (operating system), I suggest contacting the dealer or manufacturer (or where you got it) and asking about they docking system and operation of the computer and it's compatibility and options.

I sincerely hope this information is helpful and helps you solve this matter. Let me know if I can further assist you. Thank you for choosing fixya.com.
