I have gone through 3 needles and I've never had an issue before. The machine ate my fabric and I pulled it out (big mistake) and now my needles keep breaking.

1. Put one drop of oil on race. The bobbin case has two screws to adjust to keep it from moving either clockwise or counter clockwise. You will need to adjust these. It is tricky but once in the right position it will only move slightly. Give just enough free movement to allow thread to fit through. 2. Adjust the bobbin tension. The screw on the bobbin will need to be adjusted so it has a tension which equals four on the upper tension. This is a little tricky but if you're off a little you can adjust the upper tension to correct this. NOTE: You are trying to adjust the upper tension and the bobbin tension to be equal. This is similar to a tug of war. 3. Try to turn the hand wheel. Watch to see if the needle thread will ride across the top of the bobbin. It should do this without the thread getting stuck. If it gets stuck you will need to adjust the bobbin case screws to allow a little more movement allowance. 4. Replace the needle. 5. If you still notice the needle striking something under the throat plate you will need to have your machine timed. 25764350-ezyqsmofnm3xetgozo0tiqgh-4-0.jpg 25764350-ezyqsmofnm3xetgozo0tiqgh-4-2.jpg

Needle hits and breaks, when I take bobin and carriage out the needle still hits. Ha ow can I adjust the timing? Brother CS 6000 i

Make sure you are using the correct needle for your machine! Also check your manual to make sure you are inserting it properly. Some needles are rounded on one side and flat on the other. If you use the incorrect needle it will hit or insert it incorrectly it will also hit and break. June

I am using my walking foot to stitch in the ditch my quilt. The foot is not pulling my fabric through consistently.

The quilted fabric may be too thick for the walking foot to move along smoothly. Try using a zipper foot which is much slimmer and can get close to the line of stitching.

Bobbin winder belt melted

Mine stopped working too. Gave up and wound bobbins by hand for a while until I broke down and took the machine apart -- an ordeal to figure out. I found that a pliable ring on the winder was completely disintegrated (gummy plastic-like stuff). An online search found this -- a bobbin "tire" which I THINK is the part I need: http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/bobbin-winder-tire-brother-x55238051.aspx. Hope this helps. --Also cleaned all the lint out when I had the machine opened up. They don't make it EASY!

Make sure you lower the presser foot before continuing the operation.

The foot controller was pressed (or the start/stop button

was pressed if the foot controller is not connected)

and the reverse/reinforcement stitch button was pressed while the presser foot was raised.

The bobbin thread keeps ending

Suggest taking the machine back to where you bought it and have them try to help if you are doing something wrong, or replace the machine if it has an internal problem. Good luck!

Bobbin winder doesnt work

The bobbin winder tires on most of the new lower to medium end brother machines have a tendency to sort of melt. I honestly don't know what causes it, but basically the rubber ring that rides the handwheel and causes the bobbin winder to turn will liquify and drip off the bobbin winder and then re-solidify. It would be best to take your machine to a repair shop, to get the tire replaced and to have the old tire sludge cleaned out, though if you are adventurous, you could try it yourself. You can order a tire at the link I've provided, but most sewing machine repair shops can get you one as well. Bobbin Winder Tire Babylock Brother X55238051

Hi. You "feel" that the machine is threaded correctly? You should probably completely pull the thread out and start over, making certain that it is threaded correctly. Once that is done, double check to make sure the thread is pulled all the way into the tension discs. Make sure also that you have lowered the presser foot. Is the bobbin inserted in it's case correctly? Every aspect is critical to proper function. You may also want to revue your manual.

Bar that hold the sewing foot is loose

If the comment already posted did not answer your question, here is another thing to check. If the screw that attaches the foot and ankle to the presser foot bar is tight, and the foot can still be moved, it is likely that the presser foot bar has become loose within the lifting mechanism. You could save yourself some trouble by taking your machine to a sewing machine repair shop, but if you would rather avoid that expense, do the following. Remove the needle bar and take up mechanism cover on the left side of the machine. This is held on by a single phillips head screw on the back side of the machine, which, with the back of the machine facing you, should be on the top right side of the machine. Once this cover is removed you will be able to see two vertical metal shafts, one is attached to your needle clamp and needle, and should be in the front. The other is the presser foot bar, and will be behind the needle bar. There should be a small allen screw about halfway up that shaft that tightens onto the bar. With the presser foot properly positioned on the needle plate, tighten this allen screw. Don't tighten the screw too tightly, as this can damage the presser bar, just make sure it's nice and snug. Make sure the presser foot raises and lowers properly, and re-attach the needle bar cover. Hope this helps.
