My prints are sitting in the print queue

1. Check is the USb cable connected properly

Assuming that you are using Windows operating system

Go to Control panel and then printers

You need to check here whether the printer is online or not.

Highlight the printer icon and right click on it , if its not online then you will get an option which says Set printer online.

If this also does not help

Then delete the icon of the printer and restart your computer .. you will see that computer gave you a message - found new hardware .. let it install the driver automatically and then try to print

I have a dell computer

I have had some issues with hp software for printers. usually to make it work i had to do complete uninstall and reinstall and that was pain. Sometimes you firewall will block it or anti virus software. try to turn them off and try to open and if this does not work then reinstall it. Make sure you download latest software form hp site if available and not the cd since this sometimes can cause issues (Outdated drivers).

Is there any error message displayed on the control panel of the printer just like one of the following:
Scanner failure, power off and on
Scanner System Failure
Scanner failed, cannot make copies or fax
Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax
Scanner failure, cycle power

You may want to try following these steps:
1. Check if the scanner light does turn on when you initiated the scanning process, if not you need to reset the product.
2. Try using your other electrical outlet because your AVR or Surge Extension may not be providing enough voltage for the printer.
3. Try using dirty cycle, meaning you need to directly cut the power of your printer by pulling of the power cord from the rear side of your printer and wait for about 30 seconds before inserting again and turn it on.

If all these steps do not improve your printer functionality, you may want to call the HP online help and ask for replacement.
