As of the moment there is no driver support for the Acer Aspire 4315. If you have already installed Windows 7 and you can connect to a cable internet through your Ethernet Port, you can try downloading and install Driver Genius Professional which can assist you in getting the compatible driver. It depends.

1. If you have a set of "ACER System Restore" CD/DVD disks, insert the first one,
restart your computer, and force it to "boot" from the disk, rather than booting from 'C:'.

2. If you don't have those disks, telephone ACER and order a set.

3. Or, if there is a utility program on your C: drive that can "burn" a set of those disks,
take up to 10 "blank" CD-recordable disks, and run the utility.

4. If you have a "hidden" partition on the disk that is a "System Recovery" partition,
then restart your computer, and force it to boot from that partition, to begin the process.

If you have more than just one user account on that machine, try just hitting "ENTER". If there is more than 1 user account, it asks for a password from each one, even if there is no passwrod. Try "Enter". If that doesn't do it, come back and ask again please. :) I am assuming you don't really mean you are installing Windows (setup) and need a password to install Windows? try enter, I bet it will work.

tHIS is the guide:

Turm on the laptop, open the cd drive and slot the cd of the windows xp 3 and then close it.

Turn off the pc by pressing and holding on the power button until the system turns off,

Then turn on the pc and allow it to start.

On start up booting, a screen will appear asking you to press any key to boot from cd, then press the enter key and allow set up to run.

follow the screen instruction and guide until installation finishes.

If you have forgot BIOS password then you have to reset CMOS jumper setting. Please follow the below steps: Open the Laptop back panel. Locate the CMOS battery, remove it & then with the help of a screw driver keep on pressing the terminal inside it and turn ON the computer for 10 secs and Turn Off (make sure you keep on pressing the terminal with a screwdriver while turning ON). It will short the BIOS setting. Now, fix the CMOS battery & restart the computer. This will take care of the issue.

Press F2 as soon as you see acer logo screen then once you reach the Bios Setup screen Press F9 hightlight YES then hit ENTER key on Keyboard Press F10 then save and exit !

Make sure the circle to the left of > Save File, has a green dot in it.
If it does not click on the circle.

Now go below in the window, and click on OK.

The file has to be unzipped ]

Another small window will come up. Look at the heading at the top of the file.
This is where the file will go on your computer.

The heading may have, Desktop, or My Documents, or Downloads, in it.

Close all windows once the Zip file has fully downloaded.

Go to your desktop screen. Is the file there?

When you see the file name double-click on it.
Now click on > Unzip in the list.

On the next page go to the Left side, click on > Extract All Files

On the next page double-click on the red PDF icon next to the file name.

unfortunatly there are three pieces involved in the dimming of the screen. 1) the lcd (you tried that) 2) the inverter (you also tried that) and 3) the motherboard. I had the same thing happen with my daughter's acer. I bought her a new computer and sold the laptop for parts.
Motherboard replacement on these are a pain.

What you need to do is Flash the BIOS.

With this utility you should be able to FLASH BIOS to factory default and enter BIOS without password. Be extremely careful to follow the steps exactly, because one false move and your system could be rendered useless.

It appears that the Windows is corrupted on your computer, you can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.
If the above steps are not working then I am sorry to say that it is going for repair as the Hard disk might have corrupted.

The dealer may be right, there are two possibilities. One is your lamps or the lamp power supply is faulty, to confirm it is tha lamps, when the screen goes blank shine a flash light on the screen at an angle and see if you can any images on the screen, if you do it is the lamps or the lamp power supply, you need to take the screen apart to get at them.
If no images it is the connection to the video inputs, to fix that you have to take the computer key board etc. Chech the connections.
From what you say, it sounds more likely the lamp power supply connection. you may need to get a new cable.

You can always download Tune Up Utilities. It has a feature that allows you to install downloaded themes.

acer should have the drivers you need on their website.
