Jenn-Air JES8850 Electric Kitchen Range - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
How do I set the 24 hour clock back to 12
Press 0 (Set up options) and then 4. Then press Auto Set (on the right of the clock) to change the setting. Then press any touch pad except Cancel to exit the setup menu and save the change. (Alternatively, press 0 and 9 followed by Auto Set and another key to return all features to the Default. 12-hour time is the default for the Jenn Air range.) Jenn Air has the manuals for most of their products on their support site, http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/product_literature/search.jsp?siteCd=JA_EN_US . I looked at the manual for the JES8850AAB which is available here: http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Use%20and%20Care%20Guide%20-%208113P367-60.pdf. The information on setting the options is on page 12 (page 13 of the PDF). Note you'll need Adobe Reader or a similar program to access the manual.
I hope this helps.

Oven beeps and says F1-8
There may be more than one real problem regarding this code, but here is the story I have encountered.
My JES8850AAB has had this problem now 3 times. I metered the original keyboard and discovered the short for the "Meat Probe" button. I noticed that there seemed to be a lot of web complaints regarding this issue and decided not to buy a replacement keyboard, but rather I chose to lose the functionality of a particular group of buttons by cutting a trace on the keyboard cable. The problem was temporarily solved for about 1-2 years. The problem resurfaced again.
I decided to try contacting Jenn-Air regarding the problem.
The first person I talked to thought that I would be better served by talking to a customer service rep. She transferred me to another person who stated that I needed to talk to a "Jenn-Air" rep and transferred me. I explained the history to this person and she eventually stated that the best she could do for me was to give me a 50% discount on a replacement part.
At the same time I was told that they do not have any product engineering issues.
I thought that this would be better than nothing, so I asked how much the part would cost. She replied that she needed a part number before she could provide a price!!! I can find the part on the internet, but each site seems to have only their part number listed, so I have no way to identify the Jenn-Air part number.
I decided to dig into this problem deeper...my oven was not working anyway, so why not really take it apart and identify something closer to the root cause of the problem.
after peeling the keyboard away from the control panel, I removed all of the adhesive from the rear of the keyboard. I then separated the keyboard from the outer front panel and cleaned away the adhesive from the front panel. Now that the panel was free of the keyboard I could see the real problem...air bubbles on several of the buttons had formed which indirectly caused the buttons to appear to be pressed...hence the problem. It is my suspicion that there is a flaw in the manufacture of this panel that allows air to be trapped between the two sections of plastic forming the front panel.
As an experiment I am going to pierce each button in multiple places to allow the air to escape from these buttons...I already tried it on one button and it seems to have worked...I am not sure what will happen once I reinstall the panel and the oven heat tries to expand any remining trapped air.
Should the burners go off and on
yes this is totsly normal
they are really not burners, they are elements, and you dont really cook from the heat of the burner, on this design, you actually cook from the heat of the glass, so as the glass cools through convection, the element will cycle, on and off to ensure the glass maintains a temp +- 25 degrees to the set temp
hope this helps
Stovetop on our JES 8850 has shattered
I would let the pro to do the job. if any thing goes wrong with the wiring, then you are responsible, insurance would cover it.
you can cook on the part that the heating elements are not damaged by the crack.
No heat!!!
On 220volt ovens it usually means that half of your power isn't working. That's why you still have some things working. Check your breaker box and see if there's a breaker tripped. Look for a 50 amp and turn it all the way off and then back on.
Ticking noise
PROBLEM MAY BE WITH ELETRONIC CUSTOM CONTROL. IT MAY BE CAUSED BY ELECTRICAL LINE NOISE. YOU CAN TRY A LINE SILENCER ON THE WIRES RUNNING TO SWITCHS' JONES PLUG. THERE IS ALSO A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE NEWER CUSTOM CONTROLS. HOWEVER THE PART NUMBER FOR SWITCH STAYED THE SAME. I HAVE ORDERED THE SWITCH AND STILL HAD SAME PROBLEM. tRY THE LINE SILENCER. . . THE PART NUMBER I USE IS 12001500 MAYTAG NOISE SUPPRESSOR. IT WORKS IN SOME INSTANCES.
Blown fuse?
if its not as easy as reseting a breaker, perhaps even look for tripped gfci outlets, usually in kitchen and bathrooms. not much more your gonna do past checking the obvious, hope you know an electrician
Knob Noise
You have a high frequency power supply close by. Most likely a track lighting system that is causing the clicking
My downdraft fan does not run.
i assume you mean the oven fan. does the element heat or not. first thing to check that you have the clock set properly because you may have it set to auto withiout realising
Jenn-air JGS9900 downdraft slide in gas range - no power and electrical outlet IS working
There are several possible reasons why your Jenn-air JGS9900 gas range may not have power:
- Tripped Circuit Breaker: Check the circuit breaker for the range in your home's electrical panel to see if it has tripped. If it has, reset it.
- Loose Electrical Connection: Check the power cord connection to the range to make sure it is secure. Also, check the wiring connections behind the range to ensure they are properly connected.
- Blown Fuse: If your range has a fuse, check to see if it has blown. You may need to replace it.
- Faulty Control Board: The control board is responsible for supplying power to the range's electronic components. If the control board is faulty, it may need to be replaced.
- Faulty Igniter: If the burners are not igniting, the igniter may be faulty and need to be replaced.
If none of these solutions work, it may be best to contact a professional technician to diagnose and fix the issue.
Jenn-Air jgs8860bdp broiler doesn't ignite.
There are a few potential issues that could cause the problems you're experiencing with your Jenn-Air broiler. Here are a few things you can try:
- Make sure the gas supply to the broiler is turned on and that there are no blockages in the gas line.
- Check the gas valve to make sure it is open and functioning properly.
- Make sure the gas burners are clean and free of any debris or obstruction.
- Check the broiler burner for proper ignition. It should ignite within a few seconds of turning on the broiler. If it does not, the burner orifice may be clogged and will need to be cleaned.
- Check the gas pressure to the broiler. If the gas pressure is too low, it can cause the flames to be low or go out.
- Make sure the broiler igniter is properly seated and connected.
