The cold control needs replacing. Thats the knob with the numbers that turn the Ref OFF and ON.
What I do is call my local Appliance Parts Store with my model no. They are extremely helpful .
Get freezer and ref thermometer. Ref is probably too cold.
Freezer should be 0 to 10 degrees. Ref 33 to 35

depending on your model. if its just a reg, side by side, you more than likely need a relay/ overload which is located on the compressor,the relay only works after it cools down. unplug ref from wall, remove rear cover to see and touch compressor to see if it starts when you plug back in to the wall. if it doesnt start in three attempts. replace it. easy way to diagnose..

When an ice maker stops making ice usually the problem is not the ice maker. More often than not there is ice build up on the evaporator coils due to an automatic defrosting problem.

Check the plastic tubing on the back of your unit to see that it is still connected to this tube. If the plastic tubing has separated from the fitting the ice maker fitting has frozen solid internally with ice.

You can remove this tub by rotating it about 30 degrees and then pulling it out from the back if the unit. You may have to use a hair drier to defrost the tube.

It is step by step info on how to cycle the ice maker and test it. The procedure calls for testing (jumpering) a live circuit so be safe.

I think your going to find that you have an automatic defrosting problem that is causing the freezer to warm up to the point that the ice maker thermostat has disabled the ice maker.

There may be several reasons for this like a leaking water control valve, air in water lines or you may just need to replace the dispenser water line with a kit Part Number 8201537 Try unplugging the dispenser power on rear of refrigerator and tell me if that stops the flow. let me know, Sea Breeze

They work in a very hostile environment or cold, wet, electricity and limescale and bio-slime. As the freezer is working you can probably discount that the reason is low refrigerant gas. The other reasons would be that the fridge circulation fan has failed. or The channel that directs cold air from the freezer is blocked with ice at the rear of the freezer. It happened to my GE and was caused by a failed defrost timer that was icing up the evaporator coils at the back of the freezer. A service call lasts about an hour including melting the ice with a heat gun..

Remove the ice build up at the back of the drawer or something may have fallen over the top edge.. To remove the drawer, lift at the front and pull, or look on the side rail for catches. Please always include full 'make model (what it is)', then we can refer to the owner or service manual.

A clue to what the faults were may help you get an answer.
