I've never seen a message like that with the 0390H code. There is no mention of that code in either the user manual or service manual. The closest thing is the sc390 code, which means either the toner density sensor or the developer has gone bad, and typically replacing the PCU can fix that problem.
If the new PCU doesn't fix the problem, you might want to try calling Ricoh for support, since their documentation doesn't mention that code.
Black lines appear on documents faxed
Black lines generally mean a dirty glass plate. Clean the glass with a dry cloth and try again. If this doesn't work use something like a 'wet-wipe' and lots of elbow grease. The glass may look clean but it just takes a bit of dirt that you can't see to make the lines appear. This solution applies to all faxes/scanners.

A knocking noise is typically a bad bearing, probably in the fuser. You can try lubricating the bearings (once the fuser has cooled down) and see if the noise goes away. If not, the bearings might need to be replaced in order to get rid of the noise.
