So. My Samsung 906bw monitor

This is an old monitor, you should try it with another PC running XP to see if it does the same.
More likely for the monitor this old to have bad DC filter caps by now as you can see in my SAMSUNG and other monitor albums.

I changed the brightness on my 906BW samsung

That was the Magic Bright function - press the second button on the left to access it again. To unlock the rest of the menu just press the Menu button - first on the left - for 7 seconds.

I've got a Samsung 906BW

Components assembled in China are rated for 1000 Hrs. and 85C. Using a Fluke 16 or other Capacitor tester; you will find that the high voltage side of the power inverter has blown Caps and this also takes out the Switch Transistors. You can get these passive components at Mouser.com. Be very careful when soldering these Transistors in. This will solve your problem. I also drill several additional holes in the heat shield and back cover to help dissipate heat from the inverter board. If you are not technically savy in component testing I would recommend purchasing a different model /monitor.

I took this excerpt from a review on pricegrabber.com:
Second, unless you're running Vista already (where a driver is auto installed), there's no other driver available to date - not on any site out there, not even on Samsung's own website and most certainly (and most embarrassingly) not on the installation disc that is provided with the monitor. This is rather amateurish mistakes for a global company, so hopefully they'll get with the program soon and fix this issue. Mistakes aside, it's not enough to damage the reputation of the monitor. If you have to get yourself a new LCD, this is the one to get.

You're going to need a driver for Windows 7, and I'm not sure what the answer is to this one- doesn't look good from that report. Maybe they have developed one since that review, but you will have to contact Samsung Support and see what can be done about this. Here's their support number:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/main/supportMain.do
Wish I had better news, but it sure sounds line the driver.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Montior is not displaying anything and blue power

Try it with another PC first to make sure it is not PC problem, also check the cables. If it still does not work, then you will have to open it up and do some troubleshooting.

What kind of capacitor does a samsung 906bw lcd

There capacitors would most likely be electrolytic type. They are polarized capacitors and used for filtering DC voltage supply to remove the ripply and smooth the DC power.
If you cannot get a 10 volt capacitor then you can use a higher voltage type provided it can fit on the circuit board.

Samsung 906BW monitor wont turn on, power switch

rommelnmariv, 906BW will need to use warranty or if you are not a tech with soldering equiptment then unit will need to visit a tech to be evaluated for it's Black screen or It's Blank n Black screen problem. Read my older fixya responses (late 2009) and follow all links. Yes, some of these can be fixed-up (DIY) for under $10. Read my fixya profile for about an hour !!! Maybe you will ask your 906BW " What Brand of capacitors do you have inside you??" Bye for now. 12fixlouie

My wife's mom bought us a desk top p.c with this samsung 906bw

Well, seems like the CPU is the source of the problems, not the LCD Monitor.

The simple way to check it is by remove the cable from CPU unit, see for any sign such us color pattern moving or any sign.

the other way is, try using other CPU or Laptop, then connect it to the LCD Monitor. If it works, then you need to repair your CPU.

Hope it's working
