Memory stick

It's not the memory stick, it's the camera. It's not reading the memory card, therefore, no where to store photos. If you can get a q-tip in that memory card slot, try to clean out any dusty build up that could have stored it self on the current connections (usually flat and copper looking) and try again. This should fix the problem. If not, almost any camera shop will fix it for you. And, it's usually pretty cheap.

ACCESS

"The lens is jammed and won’t open all the way. You have to bang on the camera and/or tug on the lens to release it from whatever is causing it to jam when it opens. I started with gentle tapping and tugging…but ended up giving it three good whacks on a tile floor and yanking on the lens like I was going to rip the thing right out of the camera. It kicked on and has been fine ever since." I kicked the camera hard on its left side and it worked!

Camera Dilemma :(

Hi

Sounds like your lens is defective and needs to be repaired or replaced. Sometimes its just a speck of dust in the lens, other times its damage to the gears or something else; you never know till you open up the lens and see.

If you take the lens out of the camera, tear it down, clean the gears and put it back in the camera it may start to work again.

If you don't want to do the work yourself, I own an AFFORDABLE digital camera repair shop, just let us know if we can help.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com

Hi

You should never hit or bang your camera on something to try and fix it. Anybody that tells you to do it is wrong; you'll be lucky if you don't damage your camera further... as it seems as you have done here.

Your lens was stuck, probably had a speck of dirt in the gears and now it turns on but it can't focus. You've either damaged the fine focus gears, or dislodged them, or managed to disconnect a cable by banging the camera.

You need to open up the lens, clean out the gears and rebuild the lens assembly; this is what you should have done in the first place.

If you don't want to do it yourself you can find a shop that will do it for a reasonable price if you look hard enough. DONT pay somebody $100 or more to do it for you!!

I own an AFFORDABLE digital camera repair business, we can clean and repair your camera lens for you for $45 if you don't need the lens replaced.

If you would like to use our services we would be happy to help.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com

Turn power off and on again

I had the same problem. This happened because the lenses is jammed and these always happened when u droop the camera or press power button while the camera in it’s carry case or even on ur pocket which led to an obstruction of the lenses to extend probably. In my case my son put his hand on the lens and stopped it from extending.
The solution is try to tape the camera gently with the palm of ur hand, may be some dust is the cause, If it did not work take it to the service, I highly recommend that you should go to the agent, and u should know that it’s only repair of the lenses u don’t need to replace the lenses. I went to some one to fix the problem and he said that “it’s need a new lenses but when I emailed the agent of sony they called me immediately next day and asked me to go to there service and they make it for me for free because it was in the warranty period.
I hope this help, and I’m sorry for my bad English.
Please have a nice time

How to reattach shutter button

The fix is real easy. No need to take the camera apart.
Order the Shutter Button Release Assembly from Sony. Cost was around $18.00 + tax + Shipping. I received the new assembly in one week.
Note the angle of the old assembly before removing it so that you can line up the new one correctly.
To remove the old button assembly, use a rubber bottle opener to get a good grip. Turn slightly counter clockwise. Then use your fingernail to lift it up. Look inside using a magnifing (sp) glass and find the pieces that broke off, a spring, a small plastic tip and a small snap ring.
Look at the opening and you'll notice two slots, that's where the two little feet will line up. Again using the rubber bottle opener and pressing down slightly, turn the newassembly clockwise. You'll feel it.
Make sure to clean out the pieces that broke off. I couldn't find the spring, now I can't use that little wheel to bring the viewfinder into focus for my eye. LCD is still sharp as are the pictures. Just the viewfinder.
Good luck.
