I think you are on the right track, if the headphone jack is worn and shorting out itll kill the speakers because it thinks headphones are plgged in, ebay would be a good start for parts, maybe even call toshiba and speak to their tech support.

Yellow light flickers 4 times when trying to turn
If you don't get the flickering lights when you try to boot up with the AC adapter hooked up but no battery, it sounds like the problem is most likely a bad power adapter. Your battery is dead, and that's why you get the flickering lights, but the AC adapter is bad so you can't use it to power the laptop or charge the battery.
You can typically get a new adapter for $20 or so, or maybe even cheaper on
eBay.
Toshiba a10 does not give me the option to put lan
Are you trying to install Windows or reinstall Windows?
The PXE-E61 POST error means the BIOS cannot detect the hard disk, either a faulty hard disk or a faulty disk controller.
Check the BIOS and see if it has detected the hard disk, some BIOS also have a hard disk diags, if so run it to test the hard drive.
My guess is that you have a faulty hard disk.
Boot sequence
blvd1635,
You need to press escape after pressing the power button to access the BIOS. press the home key to reset all the default values. In the upper right hand corner you should see the boot sequence. if the hdd is listed as the first option press end to save the configuration and exit.

Laptop problem
make sure you have cd's free of dust and scratches. make sure you aren't trying read anything the drive is not capable of recognizing. Also, make sure the disk is firmly seated. I have had that problems where the center hole was not seated completly for the spinner head to grab onto.
as to the internet problem...check all connections and drivers. That is the best i can say on either problem without more information.
My toshiba screen
Shine a torch light onto the screen. If you can see a faint outline of the images, it could indicate a back light failure. Unfortunately, you cannot fix this by yourself. You will need to take it for servicing.
Inverted monitor

Can I upgrade to a Graphics card?
Only high-end gaming laptops from manufacturers such as Alienware are capable of upgrading their graphics cards.
This model is not capable of doing so. Sorry.
Also, do not leave me a poor rating simply for the fact that this is not the answer you wanted to hear, please.
Thanks.

Laptop doesn't recognize my printer
unusual not to be recognised, assuming you have followed the instructions word for word, eg not connected the printer until told to etc, you may have a problem with the usb port and not the printer, so to illiminate this try installing in a different usb port.
Also try this driver from the Samsung web site
http://www.samsung.com/Products/PrinterandMultifunction/BlackWhiteLaserPrintersforHomeandHomeOffice/ML_2010XAA.asp
If still no luck then it's either the printer or a usb port problem, to illiminate the usb fault, go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager> and go down the bottom of the list to usb controllers, click on '+' sign, right click and select uninstall.
Restart pc and all the usb controllers will be re installed automatically.
Try the printer again, if still not installing the fault must be the printer.
