Probably not a setting If you are on windows : Can you change the power setting in the interim , to stop it going into hibernation - sleep mode settings > control panel > power options>high performance should be clicked and then click change plan, PUT THE COMPUTER TOP SLEEP > NEVER Does not solve the intial issues, but tis impossible to diagnose in this forum Hope it helps

Did you tried to change the VGA interface cable (the one you connect to the laptop) ?

It is the ballast cap which is in series with the lamp. 27pF 5% 3KV

Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series. Please post back what you find. wa7tuv, If the plastic front "bezel" is very thin and the monitor control and setting buttons are located on the verticle sides of unit, it just may be that the "bezel" will need to be parted from the rear cover, with the glass lcd panel left in the rear panel. Then you will need to remove screws so you can get lcd panel out of the rear cover. You might just get lucky and find a video of some owner/technician doing a tear-down if you search YOUTUBE using "lcd monitor disassembly" or "lcd monitor repair" as search terms. Be very careful and protect the glass lcd screen at all times. It is the most expensive part of the unit. You CRACK the glass, It's you bought it, you own it, Toyota!!!! You could also check with Viewsonic to see if they have a cash+old unit exchange program for out of warranty,but prematurely failed units that will be swapped for same model "refurbished units????? 12fixlouie

mcdevito75 here, You can try going into Menu on the monitor or you can press the auto on your monitor to retrn to factory settings.

You may have blown fuse for the 5VDC line for the USB port, you need to check PIn 1 of the USB to see if you do have 5VDC, if you do, it can be damaged USB interface chip, or it can be as simple as bad USB cable. Did you verify that the USB port on your PC is OK?

This is a common problem on these monitors. There are three or four capacitors in the power supply, three on the inverter board and anywhere from 2 to 6 on the main board that go bad.

The number on the main board depends on how long the monitor has been having problems before it was serviced. The longer the wait, the more capacitors will have gone bad.

The power and inverter boards are easy to repair, the main board is not. As mentioned, it is a multi layer board so removing the old capacitors and the old solder can be troublesome. I would suggest you have someone experienced at soldering repair the main board.

Btw, our shop would charge $60 labour plus $2 for each capacitor.

Check the power supply first for bad caps, then check to see if you do have the 5v (for logic circuits) and the 12v (for back ligjts inverter).See example of failed monitors due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

Te blinking power light is a good indication of the blown power supply. If you want to try and fix it you can check out some pictures of what the bad capacitors look like at:

You can look at some of the repair guides e have posted and get a good idea how to dis-assembly your monitor to look for the bad caps. Just replace any that look like the pictues show and yo should be back up and running. If you would prefer to not do it yourself we do have a repair service for this issue. that means just what it tells you the PC is dead, PC video dead or video cable unplugged , dog chewed it , pins bent or plugged in wrong on 1 or both ends. or monitor not selected to the correct input port (OSD) PC power lamp glowing not amber or blinkikng PC fans spin , PSU fan and CPU both if PC has GPU card in PCI-express slot it must be use those ports only for video. PC not beeping PC not texting errors post. PC not blinking codes on LED or caps lock or POST ERRORS ! NO PC told PC dead. PC not stuck in sleep mode , hold PC power button for 10 full seconds to end it, (cold boot that is) test monitor on end good PC? yet?

power on and power on led glows normal , not yellow or flash. then this happens splash. attached, 2014 made. then that tells you screen is NOT DEAD is it? now? here? (PC is dead or missing)

and goes black screen NEXT,. if all that fails power supply is bad. if all that works the menu button works for 15 seconds turned on with no PC, and also works on all PCs if connected to one that are all good and not sleeping. test the monitor on 2 PCs if confused.
