Text messaging
hit # to toggle through the different modes... however, if you get used to using the 'autosuggest', it'll make things faster, and as you use it, it'll start to learn what words you use more often. just hit the key for whatever letter you want, and then you can cycle through suggestions, probably with up and down on the dpad, or take the suggested word with right. you don't hit multiple buttons to get the letter you want, you let it guess for you. so, to get 'hello', you press 43556, instead of 4433555555666.

Motorola Screen & turn on delay
Is this problem been an ongoing one? If it has, then it may be a faulty firmware issue. Contact Motorola technical support and see if they have any upgrades for the firmware on your phone.

Motorola V551 Unable to charge
Make sure that you are inserting the charger perfectly strait into the phone so that both metal connector snap into place, at work we have a data base of different phones (not the V551) but we have the V600/V300/V330 and all have known issues for not taking charge as people do not attach the charger correctly. If this isnt the problem next step would be to try another charger, if you have a friend with a Vxxx series phone all chargers are pretty much the same, if you have had the phone for less then 90 days most carriers will warranty you charger and sometimes the manufacturer will warranty it for 1 year. If its a problem with the phone then the carrier and manufacturer offer 1 year warranty. If there is a cingular store in your area you could also try going there to test your battery in another V551 to narrow down exactly were the problem is.

My cell phone wont display anything
I had the same problem with an old razor. I ended up having to discard the phone and got a v557. But these were the steps I took:
1. Took out the battery for about 5 min. I called tech support and they said that most problems are due to software errors and can be fixed by taking out the battery then reinserting it.
2. I reinserted the battery and booted it up. The keyboard lit up and the welcome screen played. After that, it shut off.
3. I charged the battery completely and tried to reboot. Same thing happened.
If none of these work, it's probably the battery's fault or the phone's fault. Either way, you should get a new phone or contact a professional fixman. Hope this helps.

All displays gone, yet phone seems to operate normally?
It looks like I have the same problem with my phone. I guess connection with the screen got broken in the hinge...Guys in Cingular store said that they can't fix it. I decided to buy a new phone, but now trying to figure out how to get the address book. I just posted my concern, and will hope someone will give me a suggestion. You might pay attention to it.

My cell won't charge
I've had similar problem, and found that if I jiggled the charger prong, that it can make a connection. Sometimes, the connection is dusty or just not hitting the receptors in your phone.
Hope that helps.

Phone will not come on
i had the same problem as well. there is a small button to the top right of the settings button. you can take a toothpick or paperclip and gently tap the button several times. tap it to see if you get a response, if not then turn off the phone and turn on the phone with the button tapped.

BlueTooth No Need V551
You can only transfer files by putting the sim card in other phone or by usb cable to pc then pc to new phone or by infra red if they have it but that is a bit hit and miss.

Phone will not power on
Did you store all you memories in the phone memory and not on the SIM? If you're not sure take the SIM out and put it in another phone.
A lab that specializes in cell phones could probably rescue the memory, but it won't be covered by the insurance. You could ask them to limit the work to just rescuing the memory, and have the rest of the job done by sending it in on the insurance, but it might be that in order for them to get to the memory, they will have to repair it anyway.
Can't you contact your provider and try to make sure that they rescue you memory as part of the repair? it's not that unreasonable...
Good luck
