I recently bought a used Dell E193FP flat panel

1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz (optimal) resolution is the maximum resolution with 16 color if the other computer had it on 32 bit color setting or the resolution of the monitor aspects ratio changed than it will not display anything on your computer
Solution is plug in your old monitor and change the settings to lowest with the aspect ratio as what the screen size is then plug in the new one that should do it

Dell e193FPc monitor

The backlight or inverter may be bad. With the monitor on and the room dark, hold a flashlight very close and shine it on the screen . If you can see the normal display the monitor is OK but the backlight or the inverter which provides proper voltage to the backlight has gone bad.

Monitor goes black. switch flickers green to amber

It does the same with another PC? Otherwise thi model is known to have transistors go out in the inverter circuits here:

Dell 19" monitor screen turns blank

i had same problem, fault was traced using a multimeter set to diode measurement, i found that one of the high power switch transistors in the inverter side of the power board was short circuit (there are four in the same area sticking up from the board, not surface mounted). normally they should measure 450 ish but when they read 0-010 its gone, pulled it out of circuit and remeasured it, gone, replaced and fixed.

My new Dell flat screen

You'll need to troubleshoot a little. SOmething may be broken, but you'll need to find out what. 1: Try the monitor on another computer, see wether it will work on that one. If it doesn't, the monitor's broken and you're probably going to need a new one. 2: If the monitor does work, put it back, but now use another cable to connect it to the PC. If that fixes it, your cable was broken. 3: If not, you could try to switch the graphics card in the PC with another one. Do not attempt that, however, unless you know what you're doing. If you don't, get someone you know to do it for you, or take it to a computer shop. If the PC will boot with another graphics card, the old one is broken. 4: If not, it may be your motherboard that's broken. Repeat step 3 with it. These steps should fix your problem. If not, please post back here. Regards, Yannick.

Will the E193FP work with my computer?

Hi,
I would suggest , check the monitor connections again. Dell flat panels are plug and play and donnot require additional drivers.
Make sure , you have not connected , both the analog (vga cable with a blue connector) and the digital (dvi cable with a white connector) to the back of your computer.
Refer to the the link below , to troubleshoot the monitor
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/E193FP/En/trouble.htm

Thanks

LCD Monitor went black

Yes this can be fixed there are a ton of sites out there that have replacement inverters or backlights. A site I found called digitaltechinc.com has parts that can be helpful for this problem. Only if you are willing to patiently do it yourself! It really is not that hard! Hope this helps!
