Trying to Configure HP ProCurve 2524 24x10/100

This switch will not function as a DHCP server itself. You will need to have a DHCP server on the VLAN with the access points to give out IP's to the wireless users.

What does Alignment Rx error mean, when does it

Half/Full Duplex mismatch.
Bad cable, too long a cable
Bad network card in device
The occational error is not a problem. Constant errors on the same port indicate a problem with the cable or device on that port.

Hp 4108 vs 2524

It has to be either the cable or the transcievers. Do you have a spare pair you can try instead?

Don't forget that HP has free tech support at 866-myprocurve also. They are excellent.

Connection error

can you clarify the switch configuration, by default it will have all ports as untagged in the default vlan 1 with a bootp/dhcp address, I assume you will need to perform some kind of routing ie; default gateway, ip-helper address or static route to point to your routing device ADSL router etc try the following;

1~ configure an ip helper address on vlan 1 to point to what ever is supplying dhcp

2~ create a defualt route on the switch ie; 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 to next hop / routing device

3~ configure a default gateway ie; ip default-gateway x.x.x.x where x= routing device

the above can be accomplished via a serial connection to the switch using hyperterminal with the following settings

bits per second 9600
data bits 8
parity none
stop bits 1
flow control none

let me know if this resolves the issue

Connecting to console

The proper way to console to a switch (at least as far as Cisco Catalyst Switches are concerned) is a rollover cable and a DB9 adapter... I then use HyperTerminal to connect..

What type of switch are you connecting to, and what kind of hardware are you using?

I always use Cisco for networking (Cisco is the king of switches and routers).. here is their step by step for connecting to one of their swtiches:

What is the default IP of HP ProCurve 2510-48 ?

There is no IP address when the switch ships from the factory. It is set by the user and/or the network by DHCP. If you do not know what the IP address was set to, then you'll need to return the switch ti it's factory default configuration. There should be information in the manual for the switch about the default config.

Hp supply central pin connected to the 19V power

  1. Central Pin: In many laptop power supply connectors, especially those using the barrel-type connector, there's a central pin that carries the voltage (typically around 19 volts for most laptops) to power the device.
  2. Voltage and Polarity: It's crucial to ensure that the voltage supplied by the power adapter matches the requirements of your laptop. Most laptops operate on 19 volts, but there are exceptions, so always double-check the specifications of your laptop and the power supply.
  3. Polarity: Additionally, the polarity of the connector is important. The central pin typically carries positive voltage, while the outer sleeve of the connector is the ground (negative). Reversing polarity can damage your laptop, so make sure the connector is inserted correctly.
  4. Safety: Always use the power adapter that came with your laptop or a compatible replacement from a reputable manufacturer. Using an incorrect or incompatible power adapter can not only damage your laptop but also pose safety hazards such as overheating or electrical fires.
  5. Replacement: If you need to replace your laptop's power adapter, ensure that the new adapter provides the correct voltage, polarity, and wattage for your laptop model. It's often safer to purchase adapters from the laptop manufacturer or certified third-party suppliers to guarantee compatibility and safety.
