Assuming that you are using Windows, the D-Link is properly installed, and that you can go to Start; Settings; Network Connections: and your D-Link appears as a wireless network and that when you double click on it you see a box that lists "wireless networks" that indicates either " no wireless networks in range, or there are some networks, but they are all encrypted, then you are not in range of a wifi hotspot or free wifi access point. yes you can do it put access point dricetly to the modem then you get it

If the default password has been changed then -
To reset the D-Link back to the default settings -
Press and hold the RESET button at the back of the router with the power ONuntil the LEDs flash at the time the release the RESET button.
Connect a LAN cable from the D-Link to your computer's LAN port, open a browserand enter the D-Link's configuration URL. OR open the browser on your laptopand enter the D-Link's configuration URL..

Greetings - Let's go over the settings in your router:
1) On the Home menu screen go to wireless in the left column 2) Wireless band should be setup as 802.11g 3) Mode should say access point 4) SSID should have a name - should also be the same name used on the laptop 5) SSID broadcast should be enabled 6) ***Important - For now set Authentication to open system. Make sure that is how your laptop WIFI card is setup. You can setup security after you get the two connected 7) Super G mode should be disabled 6) Move one tab on top over to advanced make sure data rate is auto

open the command prompt and type ipconfig, the default gateway is the address you need to log into in the browser. Keep in mind ICMP pings may be blocked by firewalls.

if your router doesn't have password yet, you need to get inside of the router configuration.
follow this steps. open an internet explorer at IE web browser type this default IP address,
192.168.0.1, then put this username ADMIN and leave the password blank.
when you get inside you can see the all configuration that you want.

note: the ip address that i give is the default ip. you cannot use this ip if your router is configuered already, unless you reset it.

THE ROUTER CONFIGURATION DIDN'T SAVE. ONCE YOU TURN IT OFF THE SETTING ARE LOST.
OR SOMEONE RESET IT.

First, to reset the router to factory default setting, press and hold the reset button for few seconds (It is at the back of the router on the right hand side to the DC Power Jack). The LEDs will then blink and the routers factory settings wouls be restored.


Please note that after RESETTING THE ROUTER to defaults, ALL SETTINGS WILL BE LOST AND YOU HAVE TO RECONFIGURE IT. Generally, after hard reset you get the connectivity, however, you have to make the connection secure etc.
Please, refer the product guide/manual and make configurations as per the details provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

1) Switch On the connected router enter the IP address 192.168.0.1 in the address bar at the top of your browser.
2) Give admin as username, leave the password blank, click ok.
3) In the left panel, select Wireless to open the Wireless Settings.
4) Change SSID. Replace the SSID which you will remeber.
5) For Security, select WEP. Select Shared Key for Authentication and type in your key. eg, manage1234
6) Click Apply

The reset only restores the router to factory defaults, nothing should change the IP address needed to log on to it, it should stay at 192.168.0.50, have you connected the ethernet cable from your computer to one of the lan sockets?

You can locate your router's adress with this easy trip:
Hit start - run - cmd. At the new black window that will appear type "ipconfig" without the quotes and hit enter. The system will reply with the the details for IP Adress, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway. The ip adress for Default Getaway is your router's ip adress. This photo may help you:

Default Logon username: admin.

Default Logon password: ...OR... admin.

Once reset right click on the connection in the task bar ( icon with two computers) click status, click properties, scroll down and select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click properties, click use the following IP address:, and add the following:

IP: 192.168.0.66
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.50

Click OK, OK, and Close, Now Enter 192.168.0.50 in internet explorer and it will work. You can now change all the settings you wish to.
