It's most likely Windows 7 cannot acquire an IP address from the network.
I suggest, when the connection is OK, you go to Start -> All programs -> Accessories -> Command prompt (Or hold the Windows key and press R then type "cmd" without the quotes and hit Enter)
In the command prompt, type ipconfig /all (a space before the / but none after). Note down the following information : IP address IPv4 (it should be something like 192.168.0.3 or 192.168.1.3), Subnet mask (Generally it is 255.255.255.0), Default Gateway (The first three digits will be like the IP address); Close the Command prompt to tidy the screen up a bit.
Once done, right click on the Network icon in the Icon tray, and click on Open the Network and Sharing Center. You should have a link named "Local area connection". Click on it then click on Properties. You should see a list in which there is "Internet Protocole version 4" Make a double-click on the text "Internet Protocole version 4"
Choose the option "Use the following IP address" and enter the information as you have noted it before (IP Address, subnet mask, Default gateway).
You will notice that it will ask you for DNS servers. In the first one, enter the values for the Default Gateway. Click "OK", "OK", "Close"
