Check ports are operating correctly, go to Control panel>performance & maintanace>admin tools>services. Look dow list for 'plug and play', make sure this is set at automatic, the furthur down list 'Universal plug & Play' and ensure this is set at Manual. if all is ok then it may be a usb power issue if you ave lots of hungry usb peripherals, try disconnecting some and try your problem periheral in a different usb port.

Hey there - Try booting into safe mode (hold F8 during boot up) choose the safe mode option. This should bring the administrative account available at the login screen. Hopefully you have not password protected it. If you can log into that account you can remove/change the password settings for the your account under the "users" in the control panel settings.

NOTE* This fix assumes you're operating in Windows XP

Windows XP Pro:
At the log-in screen, press Ctrl/Alt/Del twice quickly
Type "Administrator" and leave password blank

double click on it and run the setup to install the audio drivers.
you may need to restart the computer before you can hear sound.

There is two types of connectors SATA and IDE when you look at the drive plugs on the back of the current CD ROM you will either see a long IDE connector about 2.5 inch's with two rows of holes or a small normally black connector with on single ****. Do not confuse the data connector with the power connector. the link below will show you the difference.

1) Download and install a programme called Ccleaner from Filehippo.com.

a) Run the cleaner, gets all the web related rubbish off your pc you didn't know you had.
b) Select the "Tools" option from the left hand side of the Ccleaner window, click on startup, and delete al the startup items listed except for anti-virus software and firewalls. This means that you will have to actually start a programme you need from a short cut or programmes instead of running them all, all of the time.

2) Disconnect the tower, take off the outer case and, with a real bristle paint brush and hoover, carefully remove all the dust and fluff from inside. (If the CPU gets hot it starts to step down in performance speed) Clearing all the vents and the heat dispersal vents over the CPU and CPU fans, helps to avoid this.

3) FInally, when you're licence has run out, dump Norton, it slows pc's down. Download and install (From filehippo.com) AVG (antivirus) SPYBOT search and destroy (Malware) and If you're using windows, Window defender. They're all free.

4) If you wish to speed up further, its a case of adding more RAM, to do that, first go to the Crucial web site, enter the details of your pc and it will tell you how much you can put in your pc and what type, bear in mind if you're running XP, the most it can support is 3 GB of ram. You don't have to buy it from them, but the info is very useful.

First, look in your manual and find out what kind of Graphics connector you have. You have either AGP or, the more common PCIe. PCIe is very fast and very reliable. You will have no trouble installing it as long as you match up the connectors exactly. Same applies for AGP which is still a very viable video source, just a little older and would be the first to go with newer motherboards. Once you install your new board you may have to go into BIOS and let them know you are using an external card, but I doubt it.

Try to remove or unplug the power chords from the power supply of your PC. Leave it in 5min. off. Put it back and try to turn it on. ok. Be sure you have no cd's, dvd's, thumb drives or floppys in the drives.Turn off all peripherals. If the problem persists then "disk error" says it all. A new hard drive may be in order. Especially if the machine is a couple years old.

By the specs your machine doesn't support AGP so you'll have to go with a PCI card with S-Video out. This link will give you a list of ATI Radeon cards available on ebay to accomplish this task.

NOTE: That list will also bring up a list of PCI-E cards, your machine requires PCI, make sure you select the correct model.
