How do i wire 3 12" alpine type r swr1242d subwoofers in a sealed box with 1 hook up coming out the back of the box

I would use this way. It gives you 1.33 ohms to get the most from your amp.

I have a 12" d4 type r 1000 rms and a alpine 1000 amp speaker sounds great but smells like something is burning, my amp never over heats or shuts down but the smell is still coming from the sub?

Cut your gain back on the amp. It sounds like they are set too high. Check your install instructions on how to set your gain. If you have a 4 or 5 volt output head unit your will not be at half way. Im running a JL Audio 500 /1 on a skar wwv10 dvc in a ported box. My gain is set about half way & its plenty loud.I have a Alpine 9887 headunit 5 volt output on my RCAsI can take a volt meter & set my speaker output at 45amps & my gain in perfect.

I have 8 alpine dvc type r 12s, should i port them

depends what kind of car they are going in and what kind of sound you are going for.
generally speaking ported boxes are louder, if you choose this i would recommend filling box with poly-fill.
non-ported boxes get deeper bass and hit much harder. no matter what set up you choose a good quality box that does not flex is EXTREMLY IMPORTANT. you will want the wood to be at least 3/4" thick and the correct cubic feet.

  • For rock, i actually have 2 seperate 12's in slot port boxes i built facing forward. Facing forward reduces a little resonance and spl, but keeps alot of that annoying rattle off your tag lol

    Hope this helps :)

    How to wire 2 alpine

If they are single voice coil, just hook one up to the amp (bridged) like normal and run a jumper wire from the positive of the sub to the positive of the second one, then do the same for the negative....This will give you a lower ohmage, thus better bass!!!

What is the best way to connect two 4 ohm type-r

Connecting the speakers in parallel is the best route here. Parallel wiring is simply connecting the positive wires together and connecting the negative wires together. Then connect both positive wires to the positive output of the amp and both negative wires to the negative output of the amp. When both 4ohm speaker are connected in parallel the combined impedance is 2ohms. This particular amplifier has a damping ratio of >250 at 2 ohms compared to a damping ratio of >1000 if you connected them in series at 8 ohms. the damping ratio is simply the reduction of power transferred. (For future reference in order to get the maximum power transfer input impedance must match the output impedance.)

What is the best box for 2 ALPINE SWR-1242D

Ported and tuned to around 37-40 hertz. After all displacement the box should be in the 2.2 cubic foot for sub and you will be very impressed. Build it yourself for optimum sound and output.
