5501 LC3 SST LCD 2 Way Car Remote Starter System Questions & Answers
Viper 5501 control center won't enter pairing mode
If you didn't already get it all set you can disconnect power from unit for a little while (10 or minutes) and reconnect, you then should be able to program your remotes regardless if it was locked or not.
Remote will not charge?
If the remote was completely dead it can take up to five minutes for the remote to show any charging indication. Otherwise the charger is bad ( can be charged on a usb port of a computer if you have a mini usb cable) or the battery has failed and will need to be replaced.
The remotes for my Viiper 5501 won't charge
There was an issue with these remotes when first manufactured. Try this, when initially charging the remote; plug the charger into the outlet then, plug it into the remote; remove, plug it in, remove; continue. It should take approximately six times before the remote says "charge" in the screen. If you repeat the process and the remote does not "wake up", replace it.
I cannot enter fuction programming on viper 5501
You're going about all wrong. ALL the power wires need to be connected. The MTS programmimg is not done through the remote, it's done WITH the remote. Open your instructions; Turn ignition on then off, press and hold programming button on antenna untill the LED flashes three times, release programming button. Now, press and release the programming button one time then press and hold. (This the transmission option) Press the unlock on the remote. The LED should flash two times indicating that the system is now in automatic transmission. Turn the ignition on to exit programming.
Bought viper 5501 yesterday.started car
Make sure you turn the key to the on/run position, then once you place your foot on the brakes to put the vehicle in gear the remote will beep and recognize the alarm.
I have a viper 5501
This sounds like you have a delay domelight and they used that to trigger the alarm. You domelight stays on for 20 seconds after you close the door so because it is still on the alarm thinks the door is open even if the doors are closed. you can fix that by having a tech hook up the door triggers to the door latch wires and not the domelight itself...or you can program the alarm in Menu 2 otion 3 to not sense the door ajar when you first arm your alarm.
I had the Viper 5501
Yes your alrm could have been installed wrong. Depending on where the tech hooked up his wiring he maybe at a spot where the alarm is not allowing the trucks computers to shut down. The trucks computers should shut down after 20 minutes to where it draws only 20 to 30 milliamps. If the tech hooked up his wiring in the wrong locations the computer may never shut down and will stay at 150 to 200 milliamp draw which in this case would drain the battery
I have a 04 Chevy Trailblazer with the 5501
you can try and reprogram the "tach". it sounds like the bypass module is working since it controls the lock/unlock function as well as the bypass for passlock III. to reprogram the tach you need to start the car with the key and within 5 seconds press and hold the valet button, the parking lights should flash to confirm tach has been learned. remove the key and try the remote start. if all is well, cool. but if it still doesn't work, put key in ignition, turn key to on but not start. with key in the on position remote start car with remote, if it starts then the problem is your by-pass module. hope this helps, dave
I have a viper 5501 LC3 SST LCD alarm; my problem
You failed to mention the year/make/model of the vehicle so, my answer will be as general as your question. Either you have a vehicle that has a delayed dome light and , the alarm is tied to that wire or there is a problem with one of your door pin switches.
Viper Alarm app says Not Armed but locked
If the Viper Alarm app is showing that the alarm is "Not Armed" but the vehicle is locked, it is possible that the alarm system is not communicating properly with the app.
One solution is to try resetting the alarm system by disconnecting the car battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. This can sometimes help to reset the communication between the alarm system and the app.
If this does not work, it may be necessary to contact Viper customer support for further assistance. They may be able to provide troubleshooting tips or suggest a software update for the app or alarm system.
