Try to do the Deep Clean Printhead function on your printer. On the printer touchscreen, touch Ink Levels > More Options > Deep Clean Printhead. Your printer will then print a test page forcing ink through the cartridge nozzles and clean them. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
If that doesn't help, please contact the Lexmark Technical Support Center or point your browser to http://bit.ly/lFKDzs for online technical assistance.

I have a Lexmark Prospect

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. If you will be using a non Lexmark cartridge definitely you will encounter a printing problem. For your question about a fix on using other brand of cartridge. Unfortunately there is no solution exist it also applies with other printer manufacturer like HP, Canon and like. As you can see there is a chip on the cartridge and the printer that will recognize if you will be using a compatible cartridge. Since lexmark is the manufacturer of the printer they only have the information about the chip program that they are using. Would be better to remove the cartridge that you connect on the printer because it can cause problem on the printer.
Thanks

The printer sounds like it

Problem Blank Pages; Blank Print Out Solution

Symptom

When printing from the S or Pro Series printers, you may encounter blank pages being printed.

Solution

To rectify this issue, please follow the troubleshooting steps below:

Action Image 1

While on the main screen of the printer, open the cover.

  • If the printhead stays to the left, go to Step 2.
  • If the printhead comes to the center, do not continue troubleshooting because the printhead is faulty.
ss_mainscreen.jpg 2

Place the printer into "Replace Printhead" mode using the Maintenance menu. To access this mode, follow the steps below:

  • Touch Screen Printers:
    • Tap on the Ink Levels icon.
    • Tap on More Options.
    • Select Replace Printhead.
  • LCD Screen Printers:
    • Press the Setup button and use the arrow buttons.
    • Select Maintenance.
    • Select Replace Printhead.
... 3

Open the covers and look into the printer on the left-hand side where the cartridges are inserted into the printhead - aWICKING PAD is located there.

  • If this PAD is BLACK (as seen in the right-hand image; click it for larger view), then the printer has successfully gotten ink into and through the printhead.
  • If the PAD is WHITE, then the printer has not been able to make the ink flow through the printhead. Go to Step4.
pad.jpg 4 Seat the printhead again. Unpower the printer and connect it again. Open the cover and reseat all four tanks. Press firmly on the rear of each tank and make sure all four snap in tight. ... 5

Insert plain paper and run Deep Clean.

  • Touch Screen Printers:
    • Tap on the Ink Levels icon.
    • Tap on More Options.
    • Select Deep Clean Printhead.
  • LCD Screen Printers:
    • Press the Setup button.
    • Select Maintenance.
    • Select Deep Clean Printhead.

If you cannot get all four inks to lay clean, identify which one, if any of them, is failing.

  • If there is just some ink on the page - run the Deep Clean again.
  • If there is no ink at all, then the printhead is faulty.

Had paper stuck in feed . reached in, got it out.

Hi, Pul the plug for 30 minutes and try agian. By pulling the plug you reset the printer. Next, make sure your paper is in correctly. If it is in incorrectly the feeder will jam. Do not go beyond the feed mark on tray. Good luck.

The back ground is all blue

Try updating the firmware of your printer. Just go to www.lexmarklabs.com/firmware and choose the model number of your printer.

After applying the firmware update, try to do a "Deep Clean Printhead". To do that, on the control panel of your printer, press on Setup > Maintenance > Deep Clean Printhead.
