While on the main screen of the printer, open the cover.
Place the printer into "Replace Printhead" mode using the Maintenance menu. To access this mode, follow the steps below:
Open the covers and look into the printer on the left-hand side where the cartridges are inserted into the printhead - aWICKING PAD is located there.
Insert plain paper and run Deep Clean.
If you cannot get all four inks to lay clean, identify which one, if any of them, is failing.
1. From the printer control panel, press the Setup button
> Maintenance > Replace Printhead.
2. Open the printer cover. Note: If the carrier does not
automatically move to the center, turn off the printer/unplug the printer from
the power source and then slide the carrier to the center.
3. Press the tab, and
lift the latch. Pull up to remove the printhead. Close the printer cover then
turn off the printer/unplug the printer from the
power source.
4. Turn the printer back on. It will ask you to
"Open Cover to Install the Printhead". Press the Cancel (Red X)
button or the Home icon for the touchscreen panels. It should take you back to
the "Copy" menu.
5. Proceed with the firmware update. Just go to http://bit.ly/p205fw.
6. Once the firmware update is successful, firmly re-insert
the printhead.
If the error continues to display even after the update, it could be a faulty printhead. Please contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance.
