If it says "searching for satellite" the problem is in your satellite receiver, not the TV. The TV is working. Its showing you the signal coming from the sat box. The sat box is the tuner and is responsible for the sat signal. The "searching for satellite" is a common problem after lightening issues. If you have multiple sat boxes, then swap this one with another that you know works. If this is your only box, call your provider as it means the dish LNB or the sat box was damaged by the lightening. Also have the wiring checked for bad grounds due to an improper install.
My TV cut off by itself.
I'm not a repairman, but I do know that a lot of sudden power-offs happen due to overheating. If an electronic device gets too hot, it has a auto shut off function that kicks in. Try unplugging it for 10-30 minutes and then try it. If its plugged into a surge protector, try plugging it directly into the wall outlet.
Visio VO420E, The left side of screen has a 6 inch wide group of colored lines, I removed the cover and the lines are directly in front of the main circuit board area (not the power supply board). Do
Lines like that are almost always a bad LCD Panel, but just to test...Bring up an onscreen display (setup menu, volume bar, etc.) that originates from the TV ITSELF, not your cable, satellite, etc. You need something that intersects the area of the screen where the lines are.1) If the lines are through the onscreen items as well, then it is a problem with the LCD panel. It sounds like you are fairly comfortable inside the set. First try to re-seat the ribbon cable(s) inside that are attached to the main board,
insuring they are secured properly. See if that clears up your problem. If not, it's time for a new set.2) If the onscreen items are OK, and it only affects the input source (tuner, HDMI, etc.) then it is most likely the main board that is having the problem. Replace that and you should be good to go.
