I have a Belkin N+ router and I am trying to use

it says the HDD is not compatible with the router.... it might be due to the file system in HDD....
At this moment, the Belkin N+ Router and Modem-Router, F5D8235 and F5D8635 work with the FAT, FAT32, and NTFS file systems only.

Versions of the F5D8235 firmware earlier than 1.01.24 may fail to detect a drive that contains a mix of supported and unsupported file systems. This was fixed in firmware 1.01.24, available from the Belkin UK Support Site

We have seen a few compatibility problems with drives not being recognised and we are investigating these to get them fixed.

We have also seen occasions where a drive was not detected by the router or modem-router due to a poor quality USB cable. If a bus-powered drive does not spin up, the first thing to do is to make sure that a good quality cable is used. Even self-powered drives may fail to be recognised when using poor quality cables. Even though the cable may work when the drive is connected direct to a PC, always try a different (good quality) cable as part of troubleshooting drive detection problems.

Tech Support: If you come across a drive that is not being recognised by the Router or Modem-Router, please check on the hidden page http://192.168.2.1/storage_disk.html if the router has detected anything at all. Make sure that the drive works when connected directly to a Windows computer and try a good quality USB cable as mentioned above.

Cant connect ,no light on wireless connection. was

you need to setup the wireless connection if you havent already and your router needs to be a "wireless" router in order to create that type of internet connection. Have you laptop then scan for one which would be the one you just made and input the correct information to connect. If that doesn't work I'd suggest getting a new wireless router

No wireless

reset the router - - there is a reset button - unplug the pc from it - so all you have is the box and the plug to the wall - make sure it is on - then - push the RESET button while the unit is on.
This will get you going again on that side - -if your pc side isn't working - remove the wifi program driver and reboot the machine it will self load again or you can use the driver - install disk again and this will get you fixed.
Please give me a vote UP if this helps at all - this helps me here.
Thanks

I have a Belkin mdl. f5d8236-4 v2that worked great

if ur internet service is embarq then u need to first unplug the modem from the router
because the embarq modem and belkin has the same ip address
so jus connect the computer alone to router and power on the router
then login to router setup page with 192.168.2.1 then on left side click on "LAN SETTINGS"
IT WILL ASK U FOR A PASSWORD THEN LEAVE IT BLANK AND CLICK SUBMIT
then change the lan ip to 192.168.5.1 and then click on apply changes then go ahead and click on OK
once it is done then plug ur modem to the router then unplug the powercord of router then plug it back again --- then u can have the modem and internet light to be solid --- then u can access the internet

Had to reset forgot password

If you want to reset the router since you forgot the password for it, the only way you can do that is by pressing the reset button on the router for 10 seconds while power is ON then after that router will be back to its default settings.

I just had to replace the hard drive in my dell

1.You will have to install the router again via the installation instructions on the installation CD
2.Since you replaced the drive all the driver are not loaded and have to be reinstalled.
3. Unplug the router and then plug it back into the pc and call your ISP to see if you have proper connectivity.
4. download all firmware update from the manufacturer when you gain proper connectivity. You will need a Ethernet cord to do this at first to your PC.

We tried to add another computer to our network

You can change the wireless network set up on the computer's network card to reflect the new SSID, or go into the router's setup page by connecting a network cable between a computer and the router. You might have to remove or disable the wireless card on that computer first.

To do the first suggestion, start the Windows Wireless Network Configuration program - or the one included with and used to set up the card initially. Look for the SSID setting and make the changes needed to reflect the current SSID used.

To do the second, connect a computer to the one of router's LAN ports (or use one that is already connected). Access the router's "setup page" by opening IE or whatever browser you use and enter the IP address of the router. This is usually 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1. Do not put "www" in front of the numbers.. just the numbers and decimal points is needed (if it comes up "http://192.168.0.1" that's ok). Supply the username and password and look for Wireless Settings and change the SSID to what the computers are expecting to see.

If you can't do any of these steps, dues to lost passwords, etc. a factory reset will be needed to performed. Follow instructions included with the router as done when new.

Good luck!
