Click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question/exclamation mark ? ! or a red X right click you will have options to update driver,roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd drive restart your computer then plug them back in
this should activate found new hardware wizard
if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs
Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
Upper Filters
Lower Filters
Upper Filters.bak
Lower Filters.bak If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete After deleting the keys, close the registry editorReboot your computerOpen My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. The cd that comes with
Clearly the CD needs to be broken into more than two pieces. Or swapped out for an unsplit CD at the shop, where they can make a copy for you of course. Or or course you write the maker's local office. There's no need for the particular thing though; there's quite good free burning software around.

That's fine and all; I can imagine the DVD writer needs a powered hub to do any writing, though, so try that; but what exactly does the error message say, and what in the world can be saying that? USB is clearly a hotplug (any time) connection, though you could say what it's doing while 'sorting' if it does portend to do anything.

Click on the finder button at the lower right of your computer then click the application folder then you will see there the icon for your external DVD
CDs play, but unable to
ran into the same issue but with a mac book no "drivers" avail for the mac to let it communicate to burn. i did get around it by using a few free burning programs i just wish i could remember the name

Hi,
Install to another pc or laptop.
It may be the operating system has not recognized all the ports, if you operating system is now ok, go to my computer>properties>hardware>device manager, and look to bottom of the list to USB Controller right click on them, and Uninstall all controllers and restart pc and see if all the ports are recognized and installed automatically.

I fixed mine by straightening out a paperclip and fiddling it around the small hole in the disc tray cover. Hope this helps
