If you purchased the software at a retail store, they should have supplied the serial-number, as part of the package. Take it back, and have the sales-clerk show you where the serial-number is located.

Or, access http://www.MajorGeeks.com and find "AShampoo Burning 6 Free Edition" -- this is _free_ software, just as good as NERO, and it does _not_ require a serial-number.

Go to your control panel and to your accounts. Look at your account on the computer, make sure your account is administrator and not limited account. as a limited account, you generally have few application permissions if not leave a comment that it is still having issues and i shall do some research >.<

as it is an HP DV6000, with known motherboard issues, I would suggest try running a few other programs also and see if they hang as well.

Use 'Add/Remove Programs' to uninstall ROXIO.

and search for 'AShampoo Burning 6'.

This is _free_ software for burning CD/DVD disks,
and it works as well as the ROXIO software.

The problem with creator 2009 has been fixed by the roxio people.
Instead of burning directly to the DVD disk as roxio software states,
one needs to first save this to be AVCHD movie as a file and then burn directly from the file. This works OK, but as stated this is different

and search for "AShampoo Burning 6", download it, and install it.
It is FREE software for burning CD/DVDs.

Unchecked the software file association with CD's to avoid to roxio to load when you insert a blank cd.

If you are running any version of Windows, it's an easy fix, don't worry-

1. Delete your desktop icon
2. Using Windows Explorer, go to your C:\Program Files\Roxio folder
3. Open the Roxio folder, and find the Creator.exe file
4. Right click on the .exe file, 'create shortcut'
5. Cut and paste the shortcut you just made onto your desktop.
6. Try it to make sure it functions correctly.

Simply re-install the software and all your original data will be restored. If you purchased a downloaded version, go to the site from which your purchased it and request your keycode again, and permission to re-download. Then burn the text file with the keycode and the downloaded installer onto a CD so you won't lose it again. Another solution is to get Nero.

make sure you are logging with administrator credentials.

Uninstall the Roxio Creator software.
Restart your computer.
Reinstall the software.
