Hi There and Welcome to FixYa!
There are only a number of things that you can try at this point, because the bottom line is to determine if you are really having a hardware issue with the audio port of your Y430. If you wish to know more information surrounding your system, you can visit Lenovo's consumer support site :
Lenovo Consumer SupportHere are the few things that you can try to confirm the audio port's hardware issue :
- Try a known good working set of headphones
- Plug in a known good working set of external speakers
- Re-install and upgrade your audio driver
If none of these would work, then it's 100% sure that the motherboard needs to be replaced where the audio port is embedded. My apologies to deliver the very bad news, but I would strongly suggest for you to contact Lenovo's warranty support and speak with the technician over the phone for other possible options.
Thank you so much for using Fixya.

Hello rakshitjoshi, and Welcome to FixYa!
Here are my recommendations on how to resolve, or to further determine the audio issues that you're having :
- Try another known good working headphones and see if it works
- Plug in a known good external speakers
- Re-install the audio drivers
If none of the above would resolve this problem, then I am really sorry to say that there's an issue with the external audio port of your motherboard. I would strongly suggest for you to contact Lenovo's warranty support and tell them about this problem and all the things you tried. Similarly, you will find more information via their website :

Welcome to FixYa!
I read your problem description regarding "No Audio" when headset is plugged in and what you've tried was the appropriate ways to troubleshoot and determine this kind of problem.
Trying 3 pairs of known good working headphones and drivers re-installation without resolving this issue clearly tells us that there is a problem with the audio port. It is quite unfortunate that this port is embedded in the system board and the only way to get this resolved is, yes, motherboard replacement.
The next big steps to do is to contact Lenovo Idepad consumer support and discuss this with a technician over the phone. Similarly, you will find more information regarding your system, issues, and possible solutions through their consumer support website :

For the past few days my Lenovo IdeaPad Y430 has
Hi verneaimable,
I'm glad to help you out with the boot up issue of your Ideapad Y430. Based on the details that you have provided this is leading to a software issue. To address this concern, you need to reload the Operating System of your machine. OS has been corrupted causing you not to boot up on Windows. Lenovo do have this One Key Recovery button that you can use. You need not to worry because I have step by step procedure below making it easy for you to do the process:
Discalaimer: Using the One Key Recovery will put back your machine to it's factory settings. Any important file/software you currently have will be wiped out. You might want to create back up copy first of all your files before continuing on the process.
Steps:
1. Turn off your compter.
2. Look for theOne Key Recovery button on your PC. It's near the power button.
3. Press the OKR button, wait until your computer turns on.
4. After Windows loading files you'll be routed on Lenovo One Key Rescue System.
5. Select One Key Recovery then, select restore from Intial back up.
Usually it will take 20-30 minutes for the whole process to be done. Once it's finish just reboot your computer. You'll now have the operating system reloaded to your pc. This should fix the issue.
Hope it helps.
Thank you for using Fixya.
Lenovo y430 isn't starting up. took to a repair
Hi, If your issue is your computer wont turn on or wont display anything, you could try power draining by removing the battery and unpluging the ac adapter and press and hold the power button for 15 sec while the battery and ac is out then plug it all back then turn on your computer. If your problem is with the Operating system like XP, Vista or Win 7, you can restore your system to its original factory settings but just a warning it would delete eveything on your computer so you might consider backing up all you important files. Here's the procedure, first make sure that the ac adapter is plugin so that it would not interupt the process if the the battery runs out, then look for a small button just beside the power button that a arching logo on it or the word "NOVO" then press once that small button without turning your computer on because it will just turn on when you press that small button, then it would go directly to the One Key Recovery Option then choose one key recovery on the options given then it will guide you to the whole process of restoring your system to its original factory settings. Hope it helps
Audio driver is working properly
Hello,
If the audio driver is working properly but the microphone isn't, ensure that:
1(a). The microphone is not muted. On Windows XP, go to start, run and type sndvol32 and press enter button to launch the Windows Sound Volume Management Panel.
Under the Microphone volume control, uncheck "mute" box. This should make your microphone functional again.
(b). The wrong microphone may be selected, esp. if your sound-card has an external port for microphones. To rectify the problem, use 1(a) as illustrated above, go to File>Advanced Controls and select Input Devices.Under the Microphone advanced settings, you'll see MIC1 Select and MIC2 Select. Switch the selection as appropriate until it works.
2. If the audio driver has it's own Sound management Panel, e.g that of Realtek, open it's sound control panel and disable all microphone effects that may be enabled.
3. Ensure that sound acceleration is maximum. Open the DirectX Diagnostics Engine by going to Start>Run> and type dxdiag and press enter button. When the window opens, click the Sound tab and slide the Sound acceleration bar to maximum.
I hope my solutions work.Have a good day.

Hello I have a LENOVO-Y430
Welcome to Fixya
Make sure first that there are no devices plug in to the usb when you boot up the computer. Check if the harddrive is being detected by the computer. Press F2 to go to BIOS menu and see if the computer can detect you harddrive. It should be under the main menu and will say below harddrive. It should give you infromation of the harddrive. If there is no information of the harddrive then the problem there is the harddrive already.

My Lenovo Y430 having problem
It seems that you laptop did not have the battery back up when the power was cut assuming that the battery was not charged or bad.
If so the laptop has crashed with a sudden cut off and could have damaged the hard disk in the PC.
If the set does not boot up even if the back up bios battery is good, then the possibility of the hard disk being faulty is high.
