I been problems starting my 2002 CRF 450R so i checked my plugs which were good and my compression, but when i checked my compression it was 0. i have no compression. this bike has a after market cam and exhaust but other than that its stock. could this be the valve shims arent set right causing the valves not to seal and leak compression? the bike will start if you push start it but it will not start if you kick start it.

Any chance the valve spring has collapsed? Cam shaft thrust washers missing? Cam shaft bearing gone bad?

The best way, is with the manual that comes with the bike new, if you don't have it, find or borrow one (Same model and year) because it has all of the steps and fluid capacities in it. There is no way to "talk" you through it.

sounds right, but shims dont really wear the valve sits in or the lobe wears, hence the need for re-shimming

vin nos are usualy located on a metal plate riveted to the steering head or down tube however they are often stamped directly into the steering head
