2006 Suzuki SV 650 Logo

The problem i have with my suzuki Sv 650 is that it will not turnover when i start it, i have tried running with it and bump starting but nothing, ive also tried put it into second gear and letting the clutch out with a bit of throttle but still didnt start. The battery is quite new still and fully charged but im not sure if there is something in the battery causing the problem for it to not start. I had the bikes electric on for a while checking the indicators rear lights, horn, wires and headlight but all seemed normal. I still need to check the spark plug and starter motor to find why it won't start. My bike is kept outside and covered all the time, but with the cold weather my bike has had a problem starting before. I managed to get it started and it run for a day or two but now it won't start atall and have'nt had it running for a couple of weeks, even though all electrics are working fine. If anyone could help me figure out this problem it would be much appreciated please email me if you can help, many thanks.

Check to make sure the battery is fully charged and that the fuses are all good. If you push the starter button and the solenoid clicks, the button is good. Take a wire and jump the two posts on the solenoid or touch the two cables together, if your starter works, then you need a new solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap on the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works you need new starter brushes. Anything else wrong with the starter and you need to replace the starter assembly , unless the manufacturer sells replacement parts so you can repair the starter. most manufacturers only sell replacement starter brushes but no other internal starter parts.

When i try to start it, it wont turn over. however it dims the headlights when i hit the start button.

It sounds like you have a flat battery. It would be a good idea to test the charging system once you have the bike running.

2006 suzuki sv 650 will not do anything when u hit the stater switch relay new starter good batt good will pop start and start when u arc the relay what els could it beeeee ?????????

First prove its not the switch that is the problem, unplug it from the loom & short the cables with a paper clip (OW & YG) that would be my first step.

I have a 2001 sv 650 it sat for a year i cleaned the carbs out and it till will not start it has a brand new battery

If it sat with the valves or a valve stuck in an open position then the valves will need to be freed up before it will start and run.You can remove the valve cover to see if they are working correctly.

2006 Suzuki SV 650 will not turn over

Make sure your clutch lever, neutral position, kickstand and kill switches are all working.
You could also try removing the negative lead for the battery for about 1 minute and reattaching, and trying again to see if that clears it.
