depends if your doing a lot of short outings etc ! ? if the oil is black then change it , do 100km after oil change and check condition ! mite take a few oil changes to get clean unless your up to stripping the engine and clean everything !? if using for competition then its different again , change after each meeting as harder work out and need to keep quality of oil to max ! also the piston and rings are changed after every meeting , try and get the xr manuel as its got the periods of replacements etc !
the o -ring can be changed and purchased separately as long as the fuel pump is working properly im sure someone was in there if the o-ring is not seated properly the pump has a spring load on it u have to place o-ring, push pump down ,and either screw in or turn the lock ring danny
a good way to pin point the noise is to use something like a large screw driver (foot long )and by placing the handle right up against your ear and the metal part touching different locations on the outer casings the transfer of sound is like a doctors stethoscope try it
Stand facing the engine, at the far end of the engine compartment you will see the battery, with a flash lite look down between the battery and the big black air flow box right in front you. It has a circular ring on top and is yellow, pull straight up.
Most rings are marked in one manner or another. They may have a dot on them, a angle cut on the inside towards the piston, or some other means of identifying which position it goes in and in which direction. If the two rings are different, there should be a paper to tell you how they go on the piston. Since you're asking this question here, I assume that this is not the case.
I'm not familiar with Suzuki DR-Z 250. In the case it's four stroke with three rings, two compression rings and an oil control ring. If the two compression rings are the same, no bevels, no dots near the end gaps, or other markings, I'd assume that they are the same. I would install the "brighter" ring on the top as it may be either a chrome ring or moly coated ring. Make sure you check the end gap clearance on the rings and do not align the end gaps, stagger them around the piston.
