Hi,l Have a 535 xv 1999, their is a Lack of power at top end and it will not accelerate well.

SOURCE: 1996 yamaha virago 535. no power on top end,50mph

1 st check compression on that cylinder by taking spark plug off and getting a compression tester and screw into spark plug hole then turn the engine over and if the compression goes over 100psi/7.5 bar then your ring are ok a picture below will demonstrate get back to me if the ring are ok i have more solutions

If the engine stroke and the diamaiter of the ends of the crank are the same then is will as long as it fixs on and has same # of cylinders

1999 yamaha xv 535 when you start the bike there

I have a 94 virago that had that problem last year. First, is your starter switch releasing all the way out? Mine was sticking. Also the regulator-rectifier needed replacing, as it was no longer damping the current, which leads to surges, especially when revved. If you have a manual it will tell you how to check the current running through the bike. Replacing the regulator is cheap and easy even for me with my limited bike knowledge! Hope this helps.
