My Honda 2009 crf250r shut off while i was riding. I tried kicking it and the kick starter was locked up. i checked the crank box and it was bone dry. Is this a big problem? Please help me!!! i dont know what to do. thanks!

wont start, or you can't move the kick starter?
If it kicks easily, do a compression test.

I have a honda crf250 2009 model i recently brought it off a mate. Had the same problem could not get the thing started. Missed races cause of this... I worked out how to get it started. On Cold start, turn the fuel on give the throttle 3 full pumps. Then do not touch it! Put ur hand in the middle of the handlebars if need be. Kick start the bike still may take a couple kicks but on mine its generally about 2-4 kicks. Then through out the day when u want to start it do no twist that throttle it just squirts fuel in and u may as well just pack it up!! I know this is what i have to do not saying yours will be the same but i hope it all works out!!!

Is this the question I just posted a answer for? You ran your motorcycle with no oil, according to what you are telling us here, I would expect the engine to be ruined. If this is the case, you will have to replace the engine and transmission.

Pay? You will pay a lot to have this repair accomplished. It is my guess that IF you can get a complete motor from somewhere and install it yourself, that will be the cheapest repair you will find. Will it be setup correctly? That is a different question. If you want your 2009 motorcycle to run like a 2009 motorcycle, have Honda replace the engine and get it set up for you.

If you bought this motorcycle from a authorized Honda dealer participating in the Honda Riders Club promotion, you can go to the club web site and get additional information there.

Im going out on a limb here ... but I would guess this work cannot be justified, economically.

I'm sorry you ruined your motorcycle because of a quart of oil.

This is not good. Heat builds up without oil in the engine. The bike probably seized up due to the heat. That means new piston and rings and possibly a new cylinder. Crank bearings could also be severly damaged. Gears can weaken and loose temper, ( become softer). You had best go to a dealer or other bike mechanic and let them look at it. The repair will probably be $1000 or more, and an exact cost is only a guess because without tearing the engine down you don't know how bad the damage is. If you are really lucky, only the top end has been damaged.

You have a blown water pump seal, and it is allowing the coolant to mix with the gear oil.
This seal must be replaced or the motor will sieze ant the crank.
Do not run the motor until the repair has been conducted
