Triumph adventrE I just bought a 2001 triumph Adventurer not runing I bought a cdi box and know it runs but no 1 carb is poping back at higher rpm it runs good only when I try to take off it drops no 1 and i cleaned the carbs same

Just a very quick check,Swap the sparkplugs over.Don't put in new ones.If the problem follows that plug,it is only the sparkplug.Hope you get it fixed

I have a friend that has a 2006 Triumph America and the same thing happened to him. Started running on one cylinder and then just refused to start. I did a check on everything and found that the CDI went bad. This is mounted under the fuel tank along the back bone and is about 3 inch square box.
They mounted them with a type of plastic rivet and would vibrated on the mount and cause something inside to break. When you replace it mount it solid and use a piece of rubber between the mounting plate and the CDI.

sounds like you may have a clogged main jet or have a float needle problem starving the bowl under demand

the airbox on these models is a HUGE pain in the **** and will impede easy carb cleaning.

personally i would cut it air out, clean your carbs and install either k&n or Uni pod filters and enjoy. note, yes you will loose the chrome cheeks on the airbox but you can get chrome capped filters while cleaning up the looks of you bike and improving maintenance, performance and saving weight.

Most oils are preferential, but don't use car or low friction special oils in your bike, and beware of detergent oils if you don't know the service history, they will break down in a bike and can dislodge accumulated crud. To be safe10/40- 20/50 Motorcycle oil for engine/ part synthetic if you like, but not a necessity sae 80s gearbox, Dot 4 clutch and prepacked branded long life coolant with integral lubricant for cooling.

Found several listed on eBay, ('motorcyclejunki" is one) don't know your location, so I can't suggest a good local shop or anything.

Try, Check float needle valve, replace with rubber tipped.
