Take the master cylinder off and bench bleed it, put it in a vise, fill it, put your thumb over the hole, sqeeze the lever. Move your thumb slightly to let the fluid/air squirt out until only fluid comes out, no air. Reinstall keeping it full of fluid, try and let the fluid gravity feed down the line, watch the fluid level, could take a while. Retry bleeding.

Clutch not engaging after being changed

Probably just need to bleed the hydrolic clutch.. You should be able to see the assemble for the hydrolic fork and what looks like a bleeder screw that you would find on your brakes... Bleed it the same way you would brakes..

How to bleed the brakes

The CBRs are easy to bleed, the bleeder looks like a grease nipple on the brake assembly, ususally has a rubber cap fitted, use a ring spanner and open it.
Close it again, insure the master cylinder is full of good quality brake fluid, then pump the brake lever and continue till you start to feel some pressure build up, hold the lever with the presure on and open the bleeder, you should get some air and oil.
Do not let the lever go until you close the bleed valve, repeat this action as required till you have good brake action.
This action applies to both front and back brakes, the big advantage with a bike is you can reach the lever and the bleed valve and usually do not need an extra person

Trouble bleeding front brakes on GL1100 (1981), no apparent leaks & tried new master cylinder, any ideas please

If there is air in the master cylinder ,then it will not pump fluid. Try loosening the banjo bolt holding the brake line onto the master cylinder and pumping the lever a couple of times till the brake fluid gushes past the sealing washers. Then tighten the banjo bolt and bleed the lines. Once the master cylinder is pushing DOT 3/4 brake fluid then bleeding the lines should be easy.

I replaced the front tire on my 1996 Honda CBR500F and now I cannot get the front brakes to work. How do I fix this?

If you forced the brake pads back in the caliper to ease installation of the front wheel, they'll need to be bled. Bleed the left one first, then the right.Connect some clear 3/16 hose to the bleeder nut and catch the fluid in a drain pan. Pump the lever slowly until you get some pressure, hold lever down and open the bleeder nut. Close bleeder nut before releasing brake lever or you'll **** air back in the system. Repeat until no bubbles come out of the bleeder. Keep an eye on the fluid level in the master cylinder and add fluid throughout the process making certain you never run it dry or it will **** air in as well. You may not get lever pressure until both sides are done.
good luck!

How to replace front brake line for 03 fatboy (flstfi) and bleed the front brakes system?

Just take your old line off and replace it with the new line. Be careful because the brake fluid will damage your paint if it's DOT 4. One you have replaced the brake line, fill the master cylinder with the proper brake fluid. Open the bleeder valve and let gravity do it thing. Usually once the fluid starts to flow out of the bleeder valve, all the air is gone as well.

But if the brake lever still feels spongy or no brake at all, first bleed the master cylinder. Squeeze the hand lever and hold it while you loosen the union bolt on the end of the master cylinder. Once the pressure bleeds off, close the valve and repeat the process until you get no air bubbles. Then, move down to the brake caliper and do the same thing until you get no air and a full brake lever. You must do it in this order exactly. Squeeze the lever, open the valve, close the valve, let go of the lever. Do not allow the master cylinder to run dry during the bleeding process.

Good Luck

I've taken off the front brake hose & drained my front brake caliper. After re-assembly I can't get any pressure built up in the line. When I squeeze the brake lever it's totally free/loose/floppy. Can u...

Hi, The lines have to be bled to get the air out. There is a small fitting on the calipers to do this. The best procedure is to use a piece of tubing and a glass jar. Fill the fluid reservoir up to the top. Put some brake fluid in the jar, barely open the fitting, squeeze the brake lever and watch for bubbles, pump the lever until there are no more bubbles and it tightens up. Be careful not to run the reservoir too low and get air back in the line. This should Fixsya!
