Hi there! The speedo is electrical. Mine normally stops woking after ive washed my vtr and got alot water behind the screen ie chucking a bucket of water over it. Mines comes back on after its dry so a good dose of wd40 does the trick. NOT good not knowing how many miles you have done with one of these.

I think it's electrical. Take the Fairing offand ensure all the wires leading to the Speedo are connected and not loose. then follow the wires to where the connect to the engine and ensure they are also frimly in place. If it still doesn't work the internal mecanics of the Speedo may have broken. Take it to a mechanic.

If mechanical, remove cable at front wheel spindle, pull out metal square, see if its snapped.

Speedometer quit working i checked the sensor and it came out clean

My speedo went out while riding. It would bounce up and down then stopped completely. The odometer still had power but would register no miles. A local mechanic suggested to check the battery cables. While this seemed odd to me, I checked and found them loose. After tightening them up the speedo and odometer worked fine. Apparently the voltage connection to the speedo was hit and miss. So far everything is working great.

No Odometer read out

The odometer is driven off the speedo by and internal gear, they do not service the parts, so a new/rebuilt speedo is required to fix the problem
