SOURCE: battery location for a 2004 suzuki intruder 800

Hi ...... Find where the battery is, under the seat or behind a side panel. Disconnect the black (negative lead usually with a 10mm spanner then disconect the red (positive) lead. The battery will be held in place with a 'rubber' strap or a bracket and depending on type of battery there may be a vent hose from the battery to the lower half of the bike, this just pulls off and remains in place until you replace the battery. Installation is reverse except you connect red (positive) first.
Let us know how you get on.

SOURCE: battery removel for a 2004 suzuki 800 intruder

I know for the models till 2002 where the battery is located in front of the rear wheel.

Place the bike on her side stand
remove the negative battery lead at the left side, just below the transmission tube ( cone ) 10mm socket wrench
On the right side remove the security cap on the positive lead ( cross screwdriver ), then remove the positive lead.
The battery is hold in place with a 'floor plate'. remove both bolts of the floorplate ( on each side ) while holding the palte into place.
gently lower the plate and the battery.

I hope the 2004 model has the same assembly!

SOURCE: Suzuki intruder 1500 charging system

You need to buy a volt meter and set it on 10, or 20 v-. Start the bike and see what it says. A good charging system will show 13-14+ volts. If the meter says 11-12 volts or does not change, you have a bad stator, or rect/reg. Take to a shop to have it further tested. Chaz Moto DC

How much oil in front forks?

The fork oil should come to just below the bottom of the threads of the bolt by the o ring. do not use regular motor oil as it doesn't have the correct viscosity that fork oil has. Make sure both forks have the same amount of oil to prevent an unbalanced feel to the front end

I have a grinding noise coming from what sounds like the left rear side of my 2003 VL1500 but cant see anything that might cause it

  1. Performance
    • Suzuki has introduced slight changes to the Intruder from year to year, such as variations in accessories and styling. The bike's performance, however, has remained steadily the same. The 2004 model has a four-stroke, 1,462 cc engine with a hybrid air and liquid cooling system. The single overhead cam (SOHC) V-Twin motor generates 67 horsepower at 4,800 rpm. It has a 96 mm (3.78 inches) bore, a 101 mm (3.98 inches) stroke and has a compression ration of 8.5:1. The Intruder also has a five-speed transmission.
    Suspension and Brakes
    • An oil-damped, telescopic fork suspension with coil spring comprises the front suspension. A link-type, oil-damped five-way adjustable spring preload makes up the rear suspension. The front brake system uses a dual hydraulic disc, and rear uses a single hydraulic disc.

    Dimensions
    • The motorcycle has an overall length of 99.4 inches, a width of 38 inches, a height of 45.9 inches and a wheelbase of 66.9 inches. The seat sits 27.6 inches off the ground, the bike clears the ground by 5.7 inches and weighs 659 lbs.

Location of oil filter for 1998 suzuki 1500 intruder

Look at the front of the motor behind the front wheel. You should find it there. When you install a new one, put oil in it first and let it soak into the filter, then install. Replace the drain plug crush washer too. Every time you change the oil. Chaz Moto DC
