SOURCE: 2009 Dyna Super Glide Custom starting problems:

Does the start quit turning or does it continue to sound like it's turning? If the starter quits turning, I'd suspect the battery. Take it out and have it tested. Usually no charge for this service at most any auto parts house.

If the starter sounds like it's still turning but the engine isn't, that's an indication that the "starter clutch" is bad inside the starter. This is the "one way bearing" unit that turns the engine to start it but then freewheels when the engine starts. I've seen many of them go bad. If the bike is still under warranty, take it back to the dealer before the warranty runs out. At least have a documented complaint of the problem within the warranty period. That way, if the warranty runs out you may can still get it fixed under the warranty.

SOURCE: i have a 2006 street glide fuel injected engine

If you have the spark plugs out of the engine, you will not see a spark on them when you crank the engine over. The engine is equipped with a compression sensor. No compression, no spark. Try installing another set of spark plugs and the rotate the engine over with a set in the wires.

Not getting any fuel is a tough one. Since I don't know much about the fuel injected, computer controlled models, the first thing I could tell you to do is to check to see if your fuel pump is working. With your ear press to the fuel tank, turn the switch on after it's been sitting a while. You should be able to hear the fuel pump run for just a few seconds. I don't know what to tell you to listen for though. Some pumps make a whirring type sound others a clicking type sound. If you know someone else that owns a fuel injected bike, try it on their bike and see if you can hear anything. That's the best I can do. Good Luck!

SOURCE: How do I remove the battery fron a 2006 Dyna Super

Your battery is normally located under your RH cover. Remove cover and it should be easily identified as a black box with 2 cables attached to it. Normally you will find 2 bolt screws holding a (+) Positive (Red) and (--) Negative (Black) terminal cables. You can use a size 10 spanner, a No. 2 Phillips screw driver or a size 10 socket drive to unbolt them, start with the Black terminal cable then the Red one. Make sure that Red terminal doesnot touch anything, yet best practise is to wrap Red cable with cloth to avoid it contacting any surface. You'll see that the battery is held up by a bracket consist of 3 bolts screws, undo bolts, remove bracket after carefully removing any wires it holds, and just tilt the battery forward and out. There that's done. If helpful please return a comment.

Hi, Jim for this scenario you will need your service manual that has all fastener torque specs -fluid capacities and a wiring diagram on the back pages, parts fiche, and owners manual if you can not find the best tool you ever bought for your Harley, despair not, for a mere zero $0 you can download another one.

2006 Harley Davidson FXDCI Dyna Super Glide Custom stalls while riding @

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery must have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
2. A faulty alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Faulty main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Faulty system relay or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Faulty ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Faulty CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Faulty neutral, side stand or clutch lever safety switch.
10. Fuel tank empty
11. Fuel tank contaminated with ethanol sludge.
12. Water or dirt in the fuel system, or clogged filter.
13. Quick disconnect check ball stuck.
14. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
15. Faulty fuel pump.
16. Faulty pressure regulator.
17. Faulty or clogged fuel injectors.
18. Lean angle switch is faulty or needs adjustment.
19. Catastrophic engine failure, perform a compression test.

2006 Harley Davidson FXDCI Dyna Super Glide Custom the ignition switch is loose @

Hi, Phyllis the answer to this question is way above my pay grade for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem.

2006 Harley Davidson FXDCI Dyna Super Glide Custom how to jump-start @

Hi, Anonymous the best way to jump-start your bike is to use a jumper battery and cables, if available, before trying to push start:
1. Your battery connections must be clean and tight.
2. Jumper cables should have 8 or 6 gauge wire.
3. Only use a known good fully charged jumper battery.
4. When jumping from an automobile the engine "MUST" be off.
5. Connect the positive cable first.
6. Let the bike battery charge for 1 minute before starting.
7. Once the bike has started, remove the negative cable first.
8. If no battery is available you can try to push start.
9. Always look for a downhill slope if available.
10. Shift into 2nd gear clutch in and have someone push you then stand up on the footpegs and slam your buttocks into the seat exactly at the same time let the clutch lever out.

Got a 2006 super glide, the sun of gun without warning will give a little backfire and the whole electrical system goes dead, Note: with key off the needle on the speedo will continuously pulse; turn key...

first thing i think i would look at would be the wiring connections for the battery. CHECK AT BATTERY AND THE OPPOSITE ENDS OF EACH CABLE. if these are good, maybe check your charging system. sounds like it could possibly be failing. start bike and allow warmup. disconnect battery ground cable and see if it still runs. if it cuts off immediately, your charging system has failed and you'll need to determine the cause and correction.

2001 HD Dyna FXDP complete electrical shutdown... battery hot, fuel guage & light hot, ignition hot, starter hot... won't turn over, no accessory lights in general. HELP!

Let's see what we have here,
Battery is hot
fuel gauge and light hot
Ignition hot
starter hot
What we don't have
no accessory lights and the starter won't turn the engine over.

I'm sorry but I don't have a schematic for your bike to refer to but usually Harley puts instruments, lights, ignition, and accessories on separate fuses or breakers. Sounds like you've blown the accessories fuse as I think this one controls power to the starter relay. I think your fuses are behind the electrical panel on the left side of the bike.
