WIll the bike idle ok? .. or does the idle tend to "float" around before settling down? (Valves are too tight).. if the are way too loose.. it might not rev..but it would be clicking like (*%$)*_!!!! Carb sync must be perfect... double check ignition timing and spark plug wire routing! Maybe time to take it to a professional..
Valve gear generally does not produce load sensitive noises - because the load on these components do not vary in normal use.
A load dependent noise is usually produced by a component that is subjected to varying loads - piston, piston rings, connecting rod bearings, etc.
I suggest you treat yourself to a mechanics stethoscope or sonascope in order to more closely listen to your engine and attempt to pinpoint the source of the ticking noise.
Valve adjustment needed if you are ticking. Then, change the oil. And by change the oil, I mean switch brands. I use Mobil 1 fully synthetic with a K&N filter. Never had a problem. I also recommend Castrol Syntec and stay away from Amsoil and Royal Purple.
hey, i have recently bought a clio its 2001, 55,000 miles, when im accelerating its making a ticking noise, faster i go, quicker it ticks, do you have any idea?? xx
