My speedo does not work and the right turn sensor will not cancel. I am able to get a short 3/16 allen into the speed sensor bolt, however I can not get the bolt to loosen up.

SOURCE: 2002 flht speedo stopped working no light no speed

I can't think of the name of the part, but I believe the two are related, and run through an electronic gizmo, that reads the speed/mph and shuts offs the blinkers. Turn signal controller maybe?

SOURCE: 2000 Roadking my speedo works

The problem is with the speedo. The speedo has a "lean switch" that works in conjunction with the turn signal canceller. If the bike does not detect a "lean", the TSC will not cancel the turn signals Resolve the speedo problem and the turn signal problem will go away. As for what's causing the speedo problem, I have no idea other than maybe a loose connection. I've read a LOT of problems with the speedo not working on this forum but since I don't work the bikes built in 2000 and later, I'm afraid I have no experience with the problem and therefore cannot offer any advice.

Good Luck
Steve

SOURCE: speed sensor location on a 2000 flhr

It should be on the left rear of the transmission case. It's held in place with an Allen bolt. Remove the bolt and twist the sensor while you pull it up to remove it. Clean the metal shavings off the bottom and reinstall. If this doesn't solve the problem, you may need a new sensor.

How do you replace the speed sensor on a 2005 softail deluxe

The sensor is located on the top right rear of the transmission case. it is held in place by an allen bolt. Follow the wires back to the rear of the bike to find the electrical connection. Remove the allen bolt and twist the sensor side to side while pulling up on it. Once it is out, check the end of it for debris. it is a magnet, so if there are metal shavings on the end of it, clean them off and put the sensor back in and test ride the bike. Sometimes cleaning off the debris will make the speedo work again. If the speedo still won't work, replace the sensor.

After cleaning and polishing my '01 Fat Boy & checking that everything was working b4 ride. My SPEEDO stopped working, (black out #1) on the ride. Pulled over to check it out. At the same time, I...

The problem is most likely related to the speed sensor down on the tranny. Most likely it got wet and either shorted out or needs cleaned, but most likely it needs replaced, Do you have a Factory Manual as well as the Electronic diagnostics manual. You can put the bike into diagnostic mode and it will tell you what the problem is. If it is the speed sensor that crapped out . That would cause the speedo to illuminate, but not read anything. Also, it would cause the Speed/RPM cancel function to fail. Does the speedo illuminate? If not, you either have a dead speedo, or a short to its power. The only other thing is the ignithion switch, if water got into this and caused a short that would also cause this issue, try wiggling it around and see if it makes better contact and see if that helps, might just have to let it sit in the sun for a while and dry out and left over moisture. I assume you checked all the fuses?

A couple of questions though. Do the turn signals cancel when you bank turn the bike? There are two ways that the bike cancels the signals. Either via Speed/RPM ratio, or via the bank angle sensor inside the TSSM (Turn Signal / Security Module).

How to ajust fan belt on peugeot 406

your abs fault will be the right rear wheel speed sensor, it wont need replacing you just neet to remove the brake caliper and caliper frame, remove brake disc so you can get to the allen key bolt that holds the sensor in. remove the sensor and clean up where it sits and re-fit. as for the speedo fault i think the speedo drive is located on top of the diff. you may want to try removing the clocks, unpluging them and pluging them back in again

if this helps let me know

05 superglide speedo wont work

More than likely it is the speedo sensor going into the transmission. 1/4 x 20 with 3/16 allen bolt going into an oval piece on the top right side of the transmission.

I have a 2000 fxst--when i start the bike and rev it my mileage indicator will go out and the check engine indicator comes on. let it idle and everything is good. also speedo will come and go.

2 things, bad speedo or your speed sensor picked up some metal. Or both. The sensor is located on the right side on the trans.Pull one allen bolt and GENTLY pry the sensor out. Wipe off the metal shaving. The speed sensor is MAGNETICALLY triggered, so it picks up metal from the trans and shorts out. Possible bad wiring connection somewhere too.
