You might need to buy an adjustable shock to lower it like wilbers, some also fit a Wunderlich seat....join the forum and the members will be only too glad to offer practical advice.

I just bought an old Schwinn stationary exercise bike. I'm 4'11. So it's very hard for me to reach. I bought pedal extenders but they keep flipping. Seat is as low as it can go. Any ideas?

That's a tough one Gina. I see a few alternatives, some jokey, some serious.

Buy a real bike that fits you and cycle the parks and streets. wear a helmet, have good lights.

Buy a real bike that fits and an indoor attachment that turns it into a an exercise bike. Like this

  1. Positioning Your Stationary Bike Stand. Find a spot in your home where you have enough space for your bike as well as enough space to mount the bike. ...
  2. Installing the Bike. Situate the back end of the bicycle on the stand first. ...
  3. Check Your Work.

Or you could buy a new seat that is physically lower to the seat post.

Or take the bike to a fabrication shop and have them cut 5" out of the seat frame stem and re-weld it.

CANNOT IDENTIFY MODEL AND YEAR OF BIKE,ONLY HAVE THE ENGINE TO GO ON.TRYING TO LOCATE A FRAME TO SUIT ENGINE MODEL.ENGINE NUMBER..VNT500AE014949.1500cc V TWIN.

The bike is a "Meanstreak" If all you have is the engine you would probably be better taking the engine and any other cycle parts you like to a Frame builder.

My friend just bought a custom bicycles. How do I know if I need a custom bike?

Anybody can benefit from a custom bike. Not only does a custom bike fit you to a "T," it will also be built of materials which reflect your body and riding style. Most non-custom bikes are built to suit the "typical" customer, which probably isn't you. For women, this usually means "non-custom" bikes (any bike you purchase off the floor from a bike shop) are usually overbuilt, that is, they are too heavy and use huge diameter tubing which makes them too stiff. Because a big bike manufacturer doesn't know if you weigh 100 pounds or 300 pounds, they tend to build your bike for the 300 pounder. Why should you be carrying around all that extra frame weight?

Another thing to consider in determining whether you need a custom bike is your level of satisfaction with your current or past bikes. If you find yourself always wishing for a little more comfort, constantly "tweaking" the bike so that it fits better, or experience pain which goes beyond an initial "getting in cycling shape" period, you should consider a custom frame.

I have a 1999 bmw R1100S which has developed a cold starting problem it will start but after several attempts and after playing with the throttle on full choke once started run very badly for first few...

There will be several answers to this fault . Firstly the exhaust sensor could need to be cleaned or replaced depending on the fuel you run your bike with . The other thing is the air intake sensor will have to be checked as this latest May be disconnected and giving the ECU a wrong reading causing a hard start . One solution ,check with your local dealer if you can run warmer spark plugs during the winter period baring in mind not to keep them during summer as you could burn a hole in your pistons
