2006 Honda VTX 1300 C shoots smoke out the tailpipe when I start it
Even when the engine is warm, it throws smoke out. when riding it smells like oil burning. within about 1k miles, after an oil change, the motor oil is black. I've taken it to a honda dealer and they didn't know the cause and have any answers. I bought this new, followed all the maintenance. this problem just started this spring. @

Generally yes. I think the rule with cycle engines is to triple the milage to approximate the age of the engine. However, highway milage is less wearing than city milage or off road use.
your carbs not getting enough fuel check the bowl and jets. I run a pice of wire down the jets even if they look open just to be sure. Speaker wire strands work well for the tiny holes
Try removing the tank, and check the rubber mounting points. Sounds like you have metal on metal somewhere. Mabey adding some extra foam or rubber for padding agaist the frame while the tank is removed.
