The speedometer sensor located at the transmission ,

Hope this may help

Regards,
Votit

I know on the older models that the cable went right in to the top of the tranny and the gear was plastic and would wear down and not work or the cable would get pinched

  • Anonymous Aug 30, 2008

The speedometer cable needs to be lubricated or replaced. Too much friction on the internal drive wire causes it to hang up and release causing the jumping and noise. If you don't fix, it will get worse and then break. The separable connection between the cable that connects to the vehicle speed sensor on the trans and the cable that attaches to the speedometer. The Contour uses a plastic connection where you squeeze the colar and disconnect the cables. Then lubricate both cables by running some oil down them, and re-connecting.

    Hope this may help;

in the inner side of support vehicle

The old trans had the speed connector on the right side of the trans. Like the old cars with the gears. The new one does not have that same connector. I cut the connector to make it work.. But when I did that it made the speedometer run fast.

  • Anonymous Aug 29, 2008

The wire that I cut is on the speedometer side. The other senor is OK. It has 2 wires running to it red and the other one is green. On the 97 the speedometer is on the passenger side on the 2001 it is on the passenger side, but run a long cable that run back to the driver side. also the 2001 censor is on the top and the 97 goes in where the old cable hookup

I'm thinking you may have hooked up your speedometer to the sensor for the turbine shaft, and not the transmission output shaft. The transmission turbine speed is monitored by a Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor (TSS). The turbine shaft spins anytime the engine is running. The transmission output shaft does not turn unless the car is moving. The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) monitors the output shaft and it's signal is used for the speedometer

Where is is sensor switch located on 2001 ford escort zx2

It 's not the sensor. When they fail the PCM goes to default mode and turns the fan on with the engine on. Your problem is a fuse/s, wiring, relay, resistor, or the fan is dead.

Where is the crank sensor located on a 2001 ford escort zx2 model?

The Crank Sensor is on the block, below the Exhaust manifold. You will need a T-20 Torx bit to take loose the bolt that holds it in. The wiring for it goes down the block on the front side and is off the same harness that the coolant sensors are on.

Where is the knock sensor located on a 2001 ford escort zx2

On the back of the engine, under the intake manifold. It has two wires going to it. There is also an oil pressure switch near it but it only has one wire going to it, that is how you tell the difference. The connector on the knock sensor is a light green color.

Location of cam and crank position sensors

The cam sensor is located at the front right front side of the cylinter head, while you are facing the engine.---------- The crank position sensor located below the pcv valve that is located on block not the valve cover, its below the exhaust manifold. You will have to remove the catalytic converter to see the exact view of both the sensors. The camshaft sensor is on the head. The crankshaft sensor is in the block, just below the exhaust manifold. ------------ Thanks.Helpmech.
