I know on the older models that the cable went right in to the top of the tranny and the gear was plastic and would wear down and not work or the cable would get pinched
The speedometer cable needs to be lubricated or replaced. Too much friction on the internal drive wire causes it to hang up and release causing the jumping and noise. If you don't fix, it will get worse and then break.The separable connection between the cable that connects to the vehicle speed sensor on the trans and the cable that attaches to the speedometer. The Contour uses a plastic connection where you squeeze the colar and disconnect the cables. Then lubricate both cables by running some oil down them, and re-connecting.
Hope this may help;

Its underneath.sir.
please do rate the solution .sir.thanks.
its located on the lower area.sir.
in the inner side of support vehicle
The old trans had the speed connector on the right side of the trans. Like the old cars with the gears. The new one does not have that same connector. I cut the connector to make it work.. But when I did that it made the speedometer run fast.
The wire that I cut is on the speedometer side. The other senor is OK. It has 2 wires running to it red and the other one is green. On the 97 the speedometer is on the passenger side on the 2001 it is on the passenger side, but run a long cable that run back to the driver side. also the 2001 censor is on the top and the 97 goes in where the old cable hookup
I'm thinking you may have hooked up your speedometer to the sensor for the turbine shaft, and not the transmission output shaft. The transmission turbine speed is monitored by a Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor (TSS). The turbine shaft spins anytime the engine is running. The transmission output shaft does not turn unless the car is moving. The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) monitors the output shaft and it's signal is used for the speedometer
